Dual use pc build with virtual windows

Thread Starter
Hey I'm new to page. What I'd like To do is build a pc with 2 operating systems with virtualisation on 1 side is for misses with Windows 10 her own gpu shared cpu and allocated memory. My side is for YouTube, music editing, gaming ark, BO3 ect. Hers is for her sticker business like photo editing cad work ect. I'm unshore if I should go Xeon for cores and clock speed or a i7, amount of ram and what gpuz to go for. Any light and recommendations would be much appreciated and have a budget of around 3-4K water cooled closed loop cpu I plan to overclock but idk if I should for lifespan. And I plan to do a small array setup in same case for storage of both systems files but a m.2 for both systems or a ssd for each side I'm lost

Will you both be using this computer at the same time?

Yeah we both will be I'm leaning towards 8 core 4 each but for her photo editing I don't know if it will b enough I know ghz plays a big part and 4 for mainly gaming is plenty just don't want it to bottleneck fps as I'll b running 27inch ultra wide 144hz 1440p and misses will have duel 24inch tn panels

I don't know if it makes any sense to virtualize rather then just do 2 different systems

Indeed, I also do not think it is worth it.

It can be done, and you would need a CPU which supports VT-d, along with AMD GPUs. Then you would need a Hyper-V host (Xen might work, too, I think).

I can get a Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2667 v4 for $350 3.2ghz 25mb cache 8core 16threads and I'll get 16gb of ddr4 2400hz 8each I just don't know if that would b enough for her if I get 2 8gb sticks I could always get 2 more if needed. Next question do I get a gaming board or workstation due to audio and features but I don't know a gaming board that would b raid friendly for 4drives plus 2more with own Windows for each system

I'll b dedicating 4 cores to her side under a virtual using VMware with Windows 10 so she will have 4 cores at 3.2ghz 8gb ddr 4 2400 ram a PCIe Intel 128gb NVMe ssd for operating speed and a r9 380 gpu and for my side I'm having the other 4 cores 8gb ram, a m.2 Samsung 128gb and a gtx 1070 as I'll be playing games. I just wanted 1 tower 2 systems monitors I'll have a 27inch ultra wide 144hz 1440p monitor and misses will have 2 24inch monitors for her work. And just to confuse u more I'll b having 4 1tb hard drives in a raid 2 for redundancy for file storage between us both in the same system.
