[Tom's]Nvidia GTX 1080, 1070 Display Port Incompatible With Vive HMD - Page 7

Well that makes 3 minor problems with the 1080 1070 cards. They have known this for a month why is it not fixed already? Another async with drivers fix coming soon?

Maybe nvidia didn't have a Vive when they did the QC and QA of the 1080?

rolleyes.gif Or they have event test it?, the first thing to test should be to try all the connections between the peripheral and the gpu...

So weird... there is a video on blunty youtube channel that show a tour on the QC and QA part on nvidia, it show that they have crazy expensive equipment to test the GPUs and they can't catch something like this?

People always assume that bugs like this aren't caught but that may not be the case.

For a company like Nvidia getting a product like 1080 to market is going to be more important then a secondary connector on one HMD set. It can be fixed later. They're allocating limited resources to getting something like this out.

I don't really get the consternation here. Nearly every AAA game released nowadays needs a patch/driver to run properly and you all put up with that like it's no big deal. The DP connection on the freaking vive all of which ten people own that has no great software, doesn't even have any great software on the horizon, is what people are going to get up in arms about? Okkkk

Well that's may be the case, as long is not a hardware issue and they can fix it on the software side...

mm not really. I totally agree with the Facebook hate, but the actual Oculus is better. It feels better, lighter, better optics, awesome headphones, awesome microphone and better strap system. Now light house is awesome, but I think simple IR system will be a better system for 3rd party devices. Touch controllers are personal taste but the Oculus ones to me look like a better system.

I caught this a little late so this may have been covered. Is it possible that the DP 1.3/4 spec is the source of the problem? Has the vive been tested with other DP 1.3/4 cards? I guess the only one right now is the 480 but I'm not sure if anyone has tested it with DP on the Vive.

But isn't HDMI limited with resolution and framerate? Is it HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 1.4 that these things use?

It is limited, but these things aren't resolution devices.

I say something is not adhering to the standard. Considering Vive works on other cards fine it's gotta be Paxwell issue that it can't handle DP correctly. For a $700+ card? That's disgusting.

Has it been tested on the RX480 yet, I can't seem to find any place that has tested it. I'm curious if this is a DP1.3/4 issue or just an Nvidia issue.
