post #21 of 29

Right now i use a power strip that has 12 outlets, i use the 8 of them, the UPS has only 6 outlets...i wouldn't upgrade to a bigger UPS that was almost double the price than the one i needed to have 8 outlets...i dont even need it and it was like 500 euro, mine costs 230

I don't think it'll really matter either way. I'd lean towards one with surge protection as they are generally better built than those without. Plus it may be useful for you later on down the line.

Do you get very frequent power outages where you live? Sounds like you are expecting to be without power for a long duration and running from the UPS, when most of the time it just needs to cover a few minutes of brown-out or back-out, and to safely shut the rig down in the rare case of an extended outage.

You'd probably be fine with a low-end UPS, with just the computer (250-300watt @ idle) and a monitor (25Watt) plugged in. When you hear the UPS kick-in (Beep!), let the computer idle (and save your work tongue.gif ) til the power comes back, and if it doesn't come back in time, the UPS will shut ur rig down nicely for you smile.gif
Having everything plugged into the UPS will just be a PITA.

Running dual adapters and boards from the UPS is not advised, however, if you carefully monitor the requirements of each device plugged in, and ensure you do not exceed the output of a port on the UPS, you will most likely be OK.

No its just that i have just 1 wall outlet near my desk office and i want to connect 8 devices, i need 8 outlets, but the UPS only provides 6!

So somehow i need to add a power strip somewhere

Either, but, I use them from the wall. I have my sig rig and my NUC plugged into the UPS, along with a monitor and my Shield console. I use the 8 outlet Isobar for everything else, tv, dac/amp, cable box, etc....

Would it be possible to describe the way the whole connection is?

This is the way im thinking of connecting the stuff

Wall Outlet
-> Powerline with the Passthrough
-> UPS connects on the Powerline's passthrough
--> Battery Outlets
| ----> Monitor
| ----> PC
| ----> Splitter adapter
| | ----> router
| |----> modem
--> Surge Outlets
| ----> Sound System
| ----> Splitter adapter
| | ----> Second Monitor
| | ----> Desk Lamp
| ----> Splitter adapter
| | ----> Network Switch
| | ----> USB hub

i think it should work...if a single UPS outlet / output can handle a 600W computer im sure it can handle a router + modem and a network switch + usb hub for sure and a monitor with a desk lamp

This is the PLP1200 with the passthrough
