Which Accelero for 980 Classified?

Hey, I'm browsing arctic's for sale section. I remain unsure if the EVGA GTX 980 Classified can wear these beautiful air coolers, any ideas?

I like the card, but beyond 45% fanspeed.. to me, it's much too loud. F@H for the summer, could use some better cooling!

Air wise i cant say any would be better then evga's default solution, maybe the Accelero Xtreme IV but honestly i think your best option would be to make it a hybrid and attach a AIO to it if you have the ability, that would give you the best temps and lowest sound output overall.

I suggest you read "Ways to Better Cooling" 5th post. Link in my sig. 1st post is index, click on topic in index to see it. I suspect you will find your case airflow is not supplying your 980 with air even close to room ambient.
Once we know if it's your case airflow or GPU cooler, we can look at options to improve your temps. thumb.gif

Thanks doyll but i'm fully aware of such things.. I'm not asking for temperature help, I'm asking to see if the Accelero's fit on my model GPU.

I do not have temperature problems, I simply desire less noise and.. why not cooler temperatures while at it.

I'm not sure Tundra, I've had an accelero blow away the TFIII coolers, EVGA's seems to be about the same.

The MK26 looks beastly, so I will be considering that or an AIO. I've built them myself before with the whole dwood's bracket thing. I have thought about going with a real GPU loop, but I did away with WC when I built this PC in Feb, considering..but not sold on going back. So a simple AIO may be best.

I would just stick with air, cheaper and quieter.

Why not replace the thermal paste. Probably should be the first thing you do at this point. You never know it might fix your issue and only cost you 20 minutes.
How would replacing thermal paste reduce the ammount of heat those furnace cards dump into his loop?

If you were 'fully aware of such things' you would be telling me what our room temp is and what the air temp of airflow going into GPU cooler at idle and load.

Therefor I'm assuming you are making claims based on what you think, not based on airflow temperature measuresments I really don't care, but I do know 9 out of 10 times when someone has GPU and CPU noise and/or cooling problems it's the air temp going into them, not the cooler being use.

Your saying "I'm not asking for temperature help, I'm asking to see if the Accelero's fit on my model GPU." also supports my belief you have monitoredt the air temp going into GPU and have no idea if it is 3c above room or 20c.

By increasing the amount of heat 'dumping' from the GPU chip into the GPU cooler. buttkick.gif The better the heat transfers from chip to cooler combined with how well the heat from cooler transfers to air kinda thing. helpinghand.gif
So the cooler the case air is going into GPU cooler and the better the TIM print transfers heat from GPU chip to cooler, the lower the GPU temps will be. thumb.gif

Simple. As silicon temperature decreases so does the resistance. Mind you its not really dramatic unless you go from say 90C to 60C. Expect a drop around 20W from that alone.Going from 66C->60C will most likely net you 2W at max. The big improvement would be that to maintain the lower temperatures the fan would be able to spin slower to achieve the same core temperature. This means your computer is that much more quieter.
