Remember last year when everyone was calling the Fury X the 390X?

Then I created this thread:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1556426/sc-amd-fiji-gpu-will-not-be-in-the-300-series-but-rather-a-titan-esque-card

But who knows, it could all be a fluke like Mookster says.

Re-look at the pic. Maybe its been updated but the second last entry is a 480 8GB.
This is prob Polaris 9?
But a needed move from AMD after the 480 being a bit of a letdown. (10% slower than most hoped)

Isn't Vega going to be TSMC?

I think the 490 will be Vega 11 or whatever, while the "Fury" class will be Vega 10/"big Vega" with HBM2 and will only drop next year. Whereas small Vega could be the chip that was rumored to of been pushed to October.

It's like 5 watts over spec from the slot. If that's enough to make a motherboard fail, the motherboard design was at fault.

AMD isn't losing the right to use PCIe technology. Worst case is that they wouldn't be able to use the PCIe logo and name for this one card. Big whoop. They could call it "PCIe Compatible" and side step that entire problem.

I don't get what the RX is supposed to stand for. It's a great compute card too? A gaming tag?

R480X

If that makes it easier to understand

In all honesty I want to say it's going to be more like a polaris 9 with 40 - 44 CU's, too much stuff showing the RX 490 has been shown. Maybe it's a matured Polaris 10 with support for higher clock speeds (1600mhz +)? Maybe even just binned chips.
