Why would anyone buy one though unless it's like ~$300 and not just buy 2 8gb 480's?

What if the "RX" Radeon Xpress implies that the chips are all PCI-Express versions of mobility chips?

It will come down to clock speeds.

snip....

The RX just stands for radeon experience and means that the cards meets a minimum threshold for gaming set by amd.

Also, the “RX” name is also new -- it stands for Radeon Experience and is really AMD’s commitment to make gaming their number one priority going forward. As well as try to clear up some of the confusion of previous model names. Less naming confusion is always a good thing.

Wouldn't that technically be a different card at that point

If it follow that all Vega based SKUs use HBM2 it could even be using HBM1/2 at lower clock speed/lower die count, but I dont think that would fit 300-550usd unless they try to make HBM affordable lie the R9 nano

Vega 10 is smaller than 11 and coming out first. Wouldn't be surprised if it was GDDR5/X.

In case I'm not being clear, I don't doubt that the picture existed, I doubt that it means anything.

If by they you mean AMD, no. I don't think AMD makes reference cards for every chip variation. AIBs will buy varying chips and release the new lineup of cards which desperately needs a real refresh.

Polaris 10 is 480, and Vega 10 is the high end

11 as in Vega 11.

Vega 10 is smaller than Vega 11 which will almost certainly be using HBM2. Based on where Vega 10 is in AMD's stack and that it should show up before Vega 11, I could see GDDR5/X support as a possibility.

Vega 10 is the bigger die as Polaris 10 is the bigger die
