In China both the 480 and 1060 are about the same price, with the 1060 slightly more expensive.

Edit: wait time for the 1060 is a month. Excellent paper launch.

Nah, Neweggs site is clearly broken for some reason. GTX 1060 shows up below "other" in the list. Didn't see any on Amazon though.

Price is in line with performance exactly at this point though, its the same perf/$ for both sides at the midrange.

Wait this card wasnt suppose to have better performance or at least the same as 980?

What happened?

I bet a oced 1060 is not even close to a max oc 980. 480 was a fail,a turd that couldnt match the previous gen card but 1060 is what?

Both cards have the same price/perf . But the FE is just an insult...

Here the wait time is around 1,5 month for the 1060

Both the 1060 and 980 have overclocking potential of somewhere around 10-17% over stock clocks... You add that to both cards and they're still the same performance... It's basically a 980 for less money and draws about 50-75w less power....
Yeah, looks like at max OC it only gains 10%. 480 can get larger gains from OC, but getting a card that clocks above %10 seems like it will be rare.

Overall both are still effectively equal at max OC, 1060 gets 10% extra (with core and memory OC) and 480 gets 15% extra (with core and memory OC).

the same as 980
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1060/26.html - stock 1060 beats stock 980 by 1%

its not supposed to be, max OC 980 is ~stock 980Ti level (or very close)

thats not true

980 max OC (%-wise) is well above all the new cards from both vendors

thats one area where Maxwell is still untouchable

I am trying to talk about the double standard on this forum. Not the actually performance of the card.

480 was a fail because it couldnt beat a 980.

1060 is the same as a 980 at stock but consume less power.

I have nothing against the card wink.gif

Well I can see people seeing the charts against maxwell cards and saying how awesome this mid/low end card is compared to Maxwell. Heck it can play most 2016 games on ultra 60fps+... There's not much of a reason to go over this card if you're at 1080p like me... Plus with the power consumption number and price tag, even for as high as it is for this generation, people are going to buy this thing so fast off the shelves...we've already seen some of it since yesterday... I bet newegg will be out of stock of cards for like a month straight...
