The point isn't salient though since it relies on his emotionally charged observance.

There aren't any problems anymore, still spreading FUD after weeks it has been fixed?

There will be AIB 4gb models.
I wonder how many though

4GB doesnt seem too popular in terms of availability/offers both in reference and AIB models

but there will be some yeah - but it will cost more than $199 and its still 4GB vs 6GB .. lots of ppl here swear even 4GB isnt enough @ 1080p already (I think it is)

crap cooler that throttles even at 1266 and offers 5% OC, if that (and if you want temps to hold you gotta ramp the fan up and hear a jet engine)

did they fix that ?

but of course some red boys have no problem comparing that at $200-240 to a well cooled custom 1060 price thumb.gif

You have that video card? Did you buy it with your money? NO? sonic.gif
But again red-green flame war.
Its "good" to hide behind a monitor&keyboard, but you don't even care or do something about people's life or family.

RX 480 4-8 GB custom don't cost more than Gtx 1060 3-6 GB.

Since when is not reaching a certain overclock threshold a problem? Where's the lawsuit for the 1080's not reaching 2,1 GHz on air?

Throttles? Well too bad, that's something the buyer needs to consider, and it's not like it does not happen with other cards. And throttling or not,it's still 10 % or less slower than a 1060 costing 50 bucks less. So yeah, compromises.

WOW such throttle average frequency of 1240 MHz.

I'll admit, I like the 1060 and it performs slightly better out of the box than I expected. However, my gut tells me the AIB 8gb 480's will just be the better buy in the long run. My gut has yet to lie to me so take it for what you will. After my GTX 480 (can't nvidia or amd come up with better naming schemes at this point?) I decided between a 7970GE and a 680... went 7970GE.. then decided between a 780 and 290x... went 290x. In hindsight I obviously made the right decisions.

Unfortunately my just shy of 3 years old 290x is still hanging and often beating a brand new $300 gpu - let alone when I easily oc it past a 390x. The gpu market flat out sucks now and is boring.

True, but I don't think there is much evidence that AMD will "age better" again with DX12.

If anything, I think GCN has gotten pretty much all of its performance finally tapped out with DX12. GCN GPUs don't gain a whole lot from Asynchronous Computing so that suggests that DX12 already has GCN cards see excellent utilization. I don't see what GCN has left to give.

AMD after this graphics card generation needs to replace or heavily, heavily modify GCN for good. Over the course of five years, GCN hasn't really improved that much. AMD relies on just increasing shader core count which gives you the performance but power efficiency suffers. When you have to power 2,304 shaders (RX 480) versus 1,280 (1060) to get roughly the same performance its really not that hard to see why NVIDIA is so far ahead on power consumption. With node shrinks becoming fewer and more distant in between, its absolutely crucial that AMD starts improving per core performance in GPUs soon.

Someone needs to take a RX 480 470 and 380x and clock them at the same memory and core speeds and compare them.

I think 470 and 380x will be a better comparison. both have same specification.

When are the 470s even going to launch? All of the buzz over the 480 and the 1060 has given us pretty much no updates on that card.
