I really wanted to get a small factor and quiet video card for my work computer. I might have to update BIOS since EVGA said they will implement idle no fan mode.

Nice. I see more and more of these small factor builds and I'm really interested turning my gaming build into one later on thumb.gif

Finally got a reply from a shop in regard to 1060s and 480s availability, there is a shortage of them, they do receive very few which are used to cover placed orders and as such none are ever in stock. The reference 480s in general are not a problem around here but their pricing is still awful. 1060s though only certain shops, the biggest one had some stock for like 1-2h before selling out and all the rest is waiting to get any cards at all to cover their orders. It's the same TSMC issue as always, they simply don't have high enough production of good chips whether it is 1080 or 1060 chips.
I can't imagine what TSMC would be doing if they had both NV and AMD as customers as the release of new GPUs would be 100% just on paper at that point.

Hopefully GF can finally show if they can produce enough chips for AMD once the damn custom Polaris cards hit market.
It's no wonder NV and retailers are hiking prices of new GPUs when there is such huge shortage of them.

Hm. I have an r9 290 card in my sig rig. I play in 1080p. Would this be worth an upgrade or no? I'm hesitant. I know the 1070 and 1080 are most definitely upgrades, but out of my price range, so I'm wondering if the 1060 is worth it.

If your card bothers you with heat and power consumption, then yes, the 1060 is definitely an upgrade. If it isn't worth the cost to sell your current card and get a new one, I'd let it rip.
