Pretty sure whycry knocked it up to generate some hits

sure got the fanboys wet. Based on NVIDIA's own benchmarks it's slower than the 480 in a NVIDIA favored game(tomb raider).

And has 4GB instead of 3.5GB (or 8GB if you want) biggrin.gif

I bet RX 480 will perform on par with GTX 980 after a few performance-drivers.

i'm not so sure about that.

Sure the 980 can OC well, but we have to remember that was a $500 card.

You have to remember 1060 is 249$ and it performs better than 980 tongue.gif

Joking aside AMD still don't deliver performance/watt ...

I suspect the price from board partners will be closer to $299 than $249. Sure Pascal is very efficient, but you will pay extra for that. It's going to be a tough sell if the 1060 is $100 more than the RX 480, I don't think people are worried about 30-40 watts difference in power.

Adds DirectX12 Multi-GPU support. Many of you have requested this, so DirectX 12 now supports NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX configurations.
The benefits of DirectX 12 are still the same, but now you are less likely to be GPU bottlenecked and can reach higher framerates due to the improved CPU utilization DirectX 12 offers.
Adds utilization of DirectX 12 Asynchronous Compute, on AMD GCN 1.1 GPUs and NVIDIA Pascal-based GPUs, for improved GPU performance.
On the latest Windows 10 version, V-sync can now be disabled (Windows Store version), and behavior of disabled V-sync has been improved (Steam version).
Improvements to stereoscopic 3D rendering, including fixes for NIVIDA Surround and AMD Eyefinity in combination with stereoscopic 3D.
Improved default settings for certain integrated GPUs.
Removes the Voidhammer Shotgun for users that do not have Cold Darkness Awakens DLC or have not yet unlocked it by rescuing prisoners in Cold Darkness Awakens.
A fix for a save issue where some game state could get lost in very rare circumstances.
This patch force-disables the Steam Overlay when using DirectX 12. This is due to stability issues with the Steam Overlay in combination with DirectX 12.
A fix for crashes with VXAO enabled on NVIDIA GTX1080 cards.
A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks.
no kepler no maxwell with undoubly the most aib gpus on the pc market.

480 beats hardly 970. Like the 1060 beats the 480, youknow Nvidia 's figure: 1,1. SO A 1060 is 1.10 +0,10 gxt970 : stil doesn't make a gtx980
post #279 of 1449
The 1060 is slower than the 980. We've got a comparison to the 960 in a few games per their site, a leaked 3dmark and their tight lipped NDA is the cherry on top. "GTX 980 Performance" on their press kit is a bit of an exaggeration. It'll end up within 10%(slower and faster) than the 480 for more $$$$.

According to this thread it doesn't seem those slides were actually from nVidia and are likely fake. The only thing they have supplied is a graph showing performance relative to the 960.
