I agree, I don't think there will be one either.

Even the most intense games at highest settings my GPU can run only fill about 2GB. What makes you think that suddenly games will start using 3GB out of nowhere and render this 1060 obsolete?

whats funny is these people who whinge about the 3GB vs the 4GB or 8GB 480 are the same people who likely make fun of "noobs" who buy slow cards based on the big marketed framebuffers. "GT 940 with 4GB of ram? Lol nubs buy that, just because they think the ram makes it faster! hur hur"

1060 should be a great card. Its positioned $20 above a card that it will be about 10% faster than, without the crappy drivers, blown PCI-E slots and it uses less power.

You must have never played GTA V... 4GB is the minimum I would want for 1080P going forward.

Could you elaborate on the crappy drivers and blown PCI-E slots...? Yes it will use less power, Pascal is very efficient, but this difference is now much closer than it was. The R9 300 series was very power hungry, but AMD has brought that down considerably.

Just more AMD ignorance. Not really any explanation needed..

GTA V is the only answer anyone has. Ever. Since that is 0.0000001% of game titles, you do have a point. It is possible to be frame buffer limited, in one game that anyone actually plays. Except no one ever phrases their criticism of a card with less VRAM in that way. "oh it sucks bc itll have less ram than a 480 for more money hur hur!!" when in fact they should say "Oh itll be VRAM limited in one game, otherwise perfectly fine and faster/less consumption in all others. carry on"

There are threads on the melted PCI-E slots.

The RX 480 is much less efficient than any Pascal gpu, especially a 1060. An RX 480 consumes more power than a 1070 to be slower than a 980.

People keep touting this but I wonder if they've actually ever touched the game. GTA V manages memory very well. Even 2GB cards run it very well on high settings, very high textures and 1440p. Then of course, useless amounts of AA, like 8X, makes memory usage skyrocket.

Its going to be like any other high resolution gaming experience. Requires tons of GPU power to fill the VRAM. So basically, he means GTA V - VR edition wink.gif
