The 480 is much closer to the 1060, right? I've only seen like one set of benchmarks from the 480 and it was performing right under an overclocked 970.

The only benchmarks to go on for the 1060 are some slides from nvidia comparing it to the 960(looks no faster than the 480 in those) and a leak 3dmark in which the card was about 9% faster than the 480.

Huh, interesting, thanks.

I was going to pick up one or the other but it looks like I would be better off just saving a little more for a 1070. My 660 is getting on up there in years smile.gif

For sure get a 1070, only $100 more than a FE 1060 and when prices settle it'll be $89 more. 1060 is launched straight into purgatory sadly, hence it's tight NDA.

If you can afford it, I doubt you'll be disappointed with your purchase. It looks like a hell of a card. I'm personally waiting to see what AMD brings to the table to compete with the 1070 before I buy.

But AMD couldn't even deliver 980 performance.

Him and I have had pretty much the same thinking as of late, but both were disappointed again by AMD's lagging release schedule. We both had an itch to upgrade. So we wait until when exactly for Vega since that's the card we need from AMD to get the performance we both wanted/needed?

Hey, i get it. thumb.gif

It isn't bad for what it is though.. I think it's getting a lot of unesscary hate. I mean, a 980Ti cost $650 a few months ago.. I expect the 480 Nitro ($249) to handily match the 980, check out some benches, at 1450 it matches/exceeds a Fury.

As for Vega well... you tell me. tongue.gif

And two 480's is not much faster than a 1070 (if scaling is worth a crap) and you ALWAYS have to deal with the pains that come with dual card setups. Everyone knows that a single card that is faster or has similar performance offers a better experience even if it cost a little more.

Yeah, i agree. I'm not saying that 2 480's should be bought over a 1070, just giving some perspective on the price difference. They were never aiming for that tier of GPU's.

I'd order a 1070, you're in for a loooong wait from AMD.

i wouldnt say that being 11 fps ahead of a 480 on dx12 is a "hell of a card"

its good but thats it

DX12 don't matter sir. People will still be playing the current crop of DX11 titles in 2019 at 200fps just fine.
