DX12 gains for AMD are radically different between Hitman (Ashes) and all the rest of DX12 titles

so when you say DX12 you actually mean just Hitman for now

Vulkan yeah, the Doom gains are insane, although I wonder if Nvidia is prepping a driver for that too

they do exist, they just arent nearly as good as Hitman DX12 is for GCN

but for some reason ppl assume all of DX12 is like Hitman (or Ashes) and often link it as the average DX12 example

If your buying a card that does good now, and will excel at new games, I couldn't be looking at GTX 970/80's right now... Sure if you don't buy new games often and nothing looks that great to you its an option, but still not a good one really with cards expected to fill this performance segment in DX11 for less money and have a use in future games.

970's and soon 980's will go the way of Dual cores IMO, I just can't recommend them for anything...

They'll be fine, that's just fear mongering.

A GTX 970 or 980 can run pretty much any game at max settings, maybe the texture quality and a few other settings will have to be reduced a notch but it's not like games will stop working on them.

thats the problem there isnt an average..never will be because now we are just on the mercy of the developer

last i checked the only one where the 390 did not beat a 980 was tomb raider. Guessing a 480 should as well. if a 1060 just matches a 980 then that's where it will lie in those api. Most of the time anyway

In fact, yes Nvidia had just begun selling desktop GPUs when such a small amount of memory was standard. The STG-2000 (code name NV1) video accelerator, launched in September of 1995, featured 2 or 4 MB of EDO VRAM utilizing a core clock of 12 MHz and the PCI interface.
