The 3GB 1060 is not going to cost $150, that rumour is a joke. That would be half the price of the 6GB model.

I think it will cost $200 at best.
Prices for 1060 have already been confirmed. $249 AIB that will never be achieved and $299 Flounders Edition up from which all AIBs will be priced, so it's pretty much a $300+ card with 6GB.
The RX480 is gonna stomp it in raw performance when you use all the HW properly. Sure in older DX11 and the like the 1060 will be on par or a little better but for what? +$100, no thanks.

dunno about 1040

with the existence of a mini 3GB 1060 and then 1050 below that - is there a spot left for 1040 ?

Was hoping for a passive one, the 460 is way too power hungry at 75w. That's even hotter than the 750ti.

Was hoping for a sub 50w 1050, which would be light enough for passive cooling like the 7750.

What does that even mean...

yeah I wonder about that too, looking at how much 480 guzzles

but they must be confident that it wont go overboard since they're releasing it without a 6-pin

he means when/if a game gets DX12(Vulkan) / async patch/support

that lets it use all of AMDs hardware, under DX11 some of it literally does nothing, just sitting there

I owned the card and whilst you could overclock to 1500 boost, it would not be game-stable, i.e a test run of UniEngine Valley Extreme would artefact heavily and sometimes freeze and loop. And then to even achieve that the fans had to be wacked up to 80%+. My EVGA 980 SC was game-stable at 1450Mhz boost.

True, the lower end EVGA's are not great overclockers. I think its the lower phases and power delivery to get 1500hz+ stable not possible. Even on my EVGA 970 I had to mod the bios to open up the TDP limits to hold a good constant boost clock.

Two different 1060s? Can't say I like it, but Nvidia did it before with the GTX 460. The 768MB version of that card had lower memory bandwidth than the 1GB version (192 bit vs 256 bit). And of course there was the GTX 260 core 216 edition. Why can't they just use that last digit in the name to differentiate their cards? GTX 465 was the last time they did this, after that they reintroduced the stupid Ti. I wonder why?

they want the lower end 1060 to "compete' with AMD's 470. Problem is again, it's at a $50 premium and AMD's card will again actually be sold at MSRP. So 1060 from $249 up(UP in reality) vs the $199 and up 480 and the $199 GIMP60 vs the $149 470.

only the references will be at actual MSRP, customs will be higher

and we all know how trash reference 480 is and that heatsink and fan of its, so you pretty much have to buy a custom

not to mention 1060 3GB is likely going to be slightly faster than a 470

theres a custom 1060 6GB Zotac listed @ $260 (was linked here a few times) and the Sapphire Nitro 480 is $250 (was that price confirmed ?)

that makes a $10 difference, not a $50 difference smile.gif
