even the inferior beta DX12 of 1060 is as good there as the well performing DX12 of 480 .. and 1060s DX11 still beats 480s DX12

so yeah this leaves Vulkan Doom and Hitman as the 2 titles where 480 clearly beats 1060
interesting. where did supposed 27% AMD lead over Nvidia in Warhammer disappear? biggrin.gif

Yeah, the budget market really loves 40W more power consumption for 6-10% less performance. Also with $249 6 GB AIB 1060 avaliable, 8GB 480 at $239 isn't really that much better in price/performance. Might want to wait for those elusive 4GB 480 to become more available to claim AMD nailed it in the low profit market.

So Nvidia beats AMD with its Aftermarket cards, in Germany for example you can already buy them for 279 Euros, they are in stock, I really didnt expect that.

That reminds me of this news:

https://www.techpowerup.com/222398/radeon-aib-partners-frustrated-at-amd?cp=3

So now that AMD released the RX 480, the AIB partners are so slow to release their cards, even though they had all time in the world.

Seems like they will lose a lot of money now, which serves them right.

For me on par with the 8800 back then wich was also a heavenly card.

Now its above a 970 and competing at times with a 980.
What is there not to love ?
That it comes twice as much power than necessary...

So far it seems like R.I.P. AMD, 1060 is what RX 480 should have been. AMD failed again, can't even get custom card to market in time. If the 1060s are available easily at $249 they are gonna have a hard time selling any RX 480s at this price range.

25-30w. for 5-10% less performance that will disappear in few months. for cheaper price.

heres the real kicker redface.gif

RoTR DX12 results with Async patch biggrin.gif

1060 still wins ...

Rise of the Tomb Raider was patched after release to support DX12 but we have avoided using it in an official capacity as the game is very much still in the beta phase on this API. However, the developer just recently released a DX12 update that adds async compute support which is said to boost performance on AMD hardware. Here we see that at 1080p the GTX 1080 was on average just 1fps slower when using DX12 while the RX 480 was 4fps faster. Nothing earth shattering but it meant that the GTX 1060 was just 19% faster rather than 27% faster found previously.

feels like half the time it is just slightly above RX480 or equal 980.

man those 390X is insane for their age. It is a Hawaii.

bested by a 780ti at launch and then matching a 980 later...

it almost like they weren't abandoned like a different gpu maker would have.

so the whole "480 is faster in DX12" is:

- not true in RotR and TW WH .. in RoTR 480 is slower even with async patch, in TH WH they are even in DX12 and 1060 is still faster in DX11
- in Ashes its either equal or a slight edge to one or the other (one review I saw had 480 win by a few fps, another had 1060 win by a fewfps)
- very true for Hitman and Doom Vulkan

and thats it, didnt see any other DX12 games tested
