Unless this card is like 100+ over the 480, it's hard to justify going AMD in that price range if gaming performance(+efficiency, overclocking, etc) is your main concern. The 1060 destroys the 480 in quite a few games at 1440 and below.

I don't understand why you are trying to redefine price/performance ratio, jus take it as it is.

Because the card sold on that price. ask owners who bought them.

The cooler is just as bad as the one from RX 480; No heatpipes, no vaporchamber, just an aluminium block with a copper core.

It just performs better because the 1060 uses 30-40 watts less.
it can afford to be that "bad", which is all that matters

How are good initial drivers a bad thing?

You could say the same for overclockers. All recent AMD cards won't go much higher than what you see in reviews, all the juice has been squeezed out to make it look good in reviews.

If you want to see what getting destroyed looks like is then here.

AMD should be paying us to use their cards, amirite guys?!?!

Watch reviews. Watch temperatures.
The reference cooler is more than good enough for the videocard.

Agreed, the reference 1060 cooler (FE) is superior in every way to the 480 reference. The reference 480 cooler is pretty poor.

But keep in mind the reference 480 goes for $199, whereas the "reference" 1060 (if you want that FE cooler) goes for $300.. For that price it better be good, that's nearly the price of Maxwell's midrange 970..
