AMD cant help that Asus is handling your RMA so poorly though.
I do think that AIB 480's will probably be just as good as a AIB 1060, maybe even better....maybe.
But where the hell are they !?!
I am happy that i am in a position that i dont have to make a choice between a 1060 or 480
It's ASUS I know.
I do like the 480, 8GB and all that nice tech in it which works when used properly with low level APIs. But so far the use of low level APIs has been pathetic from developers beside DOOM. They simply can't be bothered to make the 2 separate code paths one for each architecture, NV and AMD. And if they stick to DX11 AMD just gets hammered
I will try check again those benchmarks with OCed 480s, they are there but they didn't look good for 480s at all.
Another thing is that the 1060s IMHO might jump in price as seen with the not in stock custom versions. The overall pricing is just ridiculous for GPUs this year. They are simply keeping the same performance/price ratio as previous generation and do not cut the prices down at all by any significant amount.
1060 for $310 including 21% tax, customs and shipping from a major shop that normally is overpriced otherwise doesn't seem like a bad deal, 281 EUR, sells for 279 EUR in Germany not shipped and not stock anymore, by my rough conversion makes it's MSRP in USD $248 which is just in line with advertised $249, IMHO it's not gonna get any cheaper for 1060 than this offer.
Plus I can test drive it and return within 2 weeks
