Gtx 1060 1080p WoW:
146 FPS

Rx480 1080p WoW:
114 FPS

Planning on getting a 144hz panel later this year, these extra frames will help much. I knew nvidia had a lead in WoW but didnt realize it was this big.

It used to be bigger! Especially bad for AMD when CPU limited as their driver needs much more CPU time per frame. You might see an AMD card getting 50fps mins out of a 6700k while an nvidia card gets 70fps mins out of it - both being CPU limited.

WoW used to be total bollocks when it came to performance.

It really does not matter. From these 2 cards right now there is not wrong decision. The close they are in price the better 1060 is. I am personally not paying $410 CAD for 1060. Thats more then I payed for my R9 290 which unlocked to 290X 3 years ago.

Canadian prices are always rough with these new components. With the freefall on Pascal GPUs, I am looking for decent GTX 980Ti's used, which are coming in priced $50-100 less in USD than a GTX 1070.

What actually happened to the Anandtech's GPU reviews? I haven't seen a full blown review from them this generation I think

Hahahah, you think so? TPU shows a 7% difference. And that difference is pretty much ALL attributed to DX11. Vulkan and DX12? Yeah, no. Thanks for your constructive input though.

These reviewers have no integrity... Not a single one is bothered by the fact that Nvidia is pushing a GP106 for $300. $50-100 price jump in one generation for the mainstream market and no one questions it.

Yeah no kidding. The conclusion from TPU was just rolleyes.giflachen.gifsicksmiley.png all at the same time. It's like he just doesn't even try anymore.

I was actually more surprised that HardOCP gave the 1060 no award, but I guess that reflects my own bias.

I am afraid to buy a GTX980 Ti now. Just look at 3DMark. More to come like that. 1070 on pair wit 980 Ti but there it's a lot faster. This will go on and 980 Ti will end up like 780 Ti.

480 OC (1340MHz potential max clock for custom cards, with some also having 1390MHz OC which could be an achievable OC on custom cards, hopefully) vs 1060 OC (reference and custom)

So,
After 5+ years of using AMD GPUs exclusively, I pulled the trigger and purchased two (2) 1060s this morning, one for me and one for the wife. I emailed six of my buddies when the orders processed and said... look, I finally did it (switched to team green).

Of the six, here's how they break down in opinions:

1 die hard Nvidia fanboy (well, man)
3 meh, no big deal either way (no red team / green team preference)
1 huh? I dunno, my brother builds all my PCs for me
1 worships at the Ruby altar, owns multiple Bulldozer CPUs, still refers to them as ATI cards.

Five of these people emailed me back with a quick, very brief "congrats! enjoy! great choice!, etc. However, one buddy (I guess) emailed me back a grammatically incorrect two page e-thesis questioning my sanity, my manhood, and my masculinity, all while pointing out (in large bold letters loud noises did you see that) that it was "people like me" that were ruining this country.

See if you can guess which friend it was.

Wish we could've seen it at 1340/2200, because Polaris seems to respond very well to memory overclocks
