you could squeeze it in somewhere there yes

but theres no real point, thus the "hypothetically"

probably because theres is an insane demand for AIB 1060 (especially ones close to $250), coupled with less than stellar stock (theres only so much chips they can make that need to cover 1060, 1070 & 1080)

meanwhile all who wanted to buy the crappy cheap 480 - already bought it and now those refs sit there on the shelves, while potential buyers are either getting a 1060 right now or waiting for custom 480s

I like reading your reviews as well (mainly the conclusions), but I'm not much of a gamer anymore so I like to see some kind of GPGPU benchmarks. But now that Anandtech doesn't do full reviews anymore I pretty much have no information on this.

Thanks for the tip. I'll see if I can work that into the schedule somehow.

But I can do it too:

Not only are the results you see above the polar opposite of this card’s DX11’s positioning but they raise some questions about how well the GTX 1060 will age as more games launch with DX12 support.
Quote:
Only time will tell if the old adage of “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” applies to NVIDIA’s future DX12 performance.
Quote:
Simply put, in DX11 the $299 GTX 1060 Founders Edition doesn’t deliver a convincing $/FPS ratio against the RX480 and in DX12 environments its wheels fall off.
Quote:
NVIDIA believes the Founders Edition warrants a premium and folks will gladly pay for it. That’s either clever marketing or -if you believe what some folks say- the ultimate example of arrogance since the 1060 6GB Founders Edition is bewilderingly overpriced. There’s absolutely no reason to charge a 20% markup on this product, a premium that turns an awesome value into a solution that simply doesn’t compete with AMD’s RX480 from a price per FPS standpoint. But then again that seems to be the modus operandi of every Founders Edition to date. NVIDIA can highlight the GTX 1060’s dominating efficiency numbers all they want but I think mid-range buyers are predominantly focused on optimizing their investments rather than fixated on a few watts.

they talk all about DX12 but do they mention 1060 beating 480 in RotR DX12 async patch and ~tying it in Ashes DX12 or TW:WH ? rolleyes.gif

seems like 1060 holds its own in DX12

Yeah, but nonexistent AIB RX 480s don't help the situation either frown.gif

Kind of a slap to the face seeing how AMD AIBs are slow, but Nvidia gets their group of guys to push it all out the same day.

although 480X cant really come since they said 480 is the full Polaris

Plenty of room between last two x60 and x70 as well but never happened.

People say x80 is equivalent to old x60, perhaps x60ti was replaced by x80ti lol

Anyone else excited for the EVGA 1060 SC?

Definitely interested in seeing what cooler that uses and if the PCB is custom. Likely it is and if the cooler is a copper plate, hello CLU and I'd likely pick this up... CLU should make up for the tiny cooler and the card should perform quite well...even that small!

Funny 'launch' this is from Nvidia.

Out of stock everywhere. Seems to me they did rush this forward to take some of the wind out of the 480s sails.

Personally I want to see 1400Mhz 480 vs 2000Mhz 1060 in 1080p and 1440p in newer games.

This one isn't semi-passive and has stupidly high idle fan speed.
