High CPU Temperatures

Thread Starter
Hello,

My CPU's idle temperatures are somewhat high (37C-45C) with an ambient temperature of around 22C. Also, under Prime95 stress it reached 100C in a matter of few seconds (after which I stopped the test) The CPU is NOT overclocked, and the case temperatures are OK, as my AIO GPU hovers around 35C idle (but GPUs are expected to run slightly hotter than CPUs)

Part list :
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/teh0wner/saved/#view=JMt48d

Things I've done to try and fix this but to no success:
I have replaced my Kraken X61 with a new one.
Applied MX-4 instead of the stock thermal paste.

Additional Info:
3x Cougar Vortex fans are mounted on the front as intake
2x Noctua NF-A14 are mounted on the top as exhaust in pull configuration with the Kraken X61 radiator
1x Noctua NF-F12 is mounted on the rear as exhaust in pull configuration with the Kraken X31 radiator.

Thanks in advance for the help

Try Aida64 v5.60 with (CPU + FPU + Cache stress test).
You can also try Prime95 26.6 or 28.9 (Blend stress test).

Do you have XMP enabled in the BIOS for your memory or not?

Can you also check the CPU Voltage it gets to on the stress test using CPU-Z, HWMonitor64 or HWinfo64?

Thank you alot Ben, very appreciated ( its a pain not being able to access it when this forum lives by it xD ). But i would check the cam software like was said above and make sure it is installed correctly and nothing is off, it seems either the aio is damaged and not working properly or it isnt seated correctly causing the temps. is it overclocked? if so how far? i cant see it being the immediate culprit but it may be contributing to showing there is a flaw somewhere on the install. aside from that make sure the pump is setup correctly and that it isnt being controlled by the bios fan software causing it to run super low all the time, its been the case before that ive seen and normally it defaults around 20% stock and that is a huge issue when full load is applied. fan curves can be used to control the pump but make sure they are setup correctly.

The fan header the pump is connected to should be at 100% in the BIOS at all times.
With some boards this is also called "disabled" (no pwn or dc control, just full on)

I believe that it is fitted correctly, although the backplate is loose as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5CGe8tK6gM . Reading a few forums posts on 'loose Kraken X61 backplate' however say that once you screw the CPU Block on it it should tighten on themselves. edit: Here is a relevant reddit post and a reply from an NZXT representative : https://www.reddit.com/r/NZXT/comments/4rjkky/kraken_x61_wiggle/

Pump is spinning and gets maxed out at 3000RPM under load although the curious thing is that the liquid temperatures didn't go over 38C. I didn't want to run it more than 1-2 minute to see if they would finally get higher in fear of frying my CPU.

Hope this is helpful

- About the AIO being damaged, this is the reason I replaced the first one. I initially thought it might be the AIO causing the high temps, but even the replacement seems to have the same issue.
- No OC
- 100% PWM/DC for the Pump on CPU_FAN so it should give it full 12V at all times, and NZXT CAM Software should control pump & fan speeds

Missed this post, but yes, the Pump is connected on the CPU_FAN at 100% DC so it should be feeding it the full 12V it needs.
