Avago ADNS-9800 Optimal DPI Settings?

Thread Starter
I have recently picked up a Roccat Tyon (which I believe has the Avago ADNS-9800 sensor) and am considering it as a replacement for the G700s I typically use. I know that the sensor in mice used to have a "native" DPI and scaling, which for best performance you should adhere to. I had thought this scaled in increments of 800 on most mice, so you were often best to set your DPI in increments of 800, so 800, 1600, 2400, etc.

Is this still the case, or can you use smaller increments and not get any interpolation?

Also, am I still correct in assuming one should only ever adjust the sensitivity of the mouse itself and leave all windows and in-game sensitivity settings at their default?

I have found the following information in a datasheet for the Avago ADNS-9800. I am interpreting this correctly that the sensor steps in 200 cpi increments natively? So 200, 1200, 1400, 1800, would all be OK, but 1500 would be interpolated correct?

I have been reading into mice and sensor performance since I have been getting back into competitive FPS games and it sounds like the ADNS-9800 is not an optimal choice. I may be ditching my G700s and Roccat Tyon for a G502.
