Appraisal: Nvidia Shield Tablet (Wifi 16GB) + Accessories

I have the original Shield Tablet (Wifi only, 16GB) with pen (not the K1) that I haven't ever made much use of and figure I may as well try and sell it. I have the tablet which is in like new condition. Along with it I have the official flip cover and 1x Shield game controller (controller also in like new condition, 0 wear). I would include the pen that came with the tablet as well. I may possibly have the original box but not certain. What I do NOT have to include are the original charger/cables for either the tablet or the game controller. They both use standard micro USB cables/chargers. AFAIK the OEM charger is 2.1A. Lower ones likely work but wouldn't charge as fast, higher would likely work as well.

I currently have the tablet rooted and have TWRP recovery along with the stock ROM (not sure if its latest but I could run the update before selling). I can either factory reset and leave rooted stock or I can return it to fully stock and unrooted according to buyer preference. The tablet is fully functional and has no issues, I just have no use for it and really never needed it (just dont tell my wife that). I've had a 64GB Samsung Evo microSD card in it since I bought it working perfectly, however I will NOT be including the SD card.

I am anticipating being ready to sell it July 25th or after as I will be too busy prior to communicate with a potential buyer and/or ship it. If at that time I feel its worth while to sell I will create a sale post here and include pictures as well. I am just wondering what a reasonable asking price is for it. It appears the original is not readily available new (originally $299) and the K1 variant starts at $199 but does not include the Pen (nor has the slot to store it) and also does not include the charger or cable but is otherwise the same hardware.

With that in mind I was thinking of $175 as an asking price as the controller is still $60 new and the cover is still $40 new. Charger cables are cheap and thus the buyer could have the Shield tablet w/ Pen, controller and case for less than what the K1 costs new and either use existing charging gear or purchase charger/cable and potentially be under or around what the New Tablet alone costs without charging gear. I am not sure how much it would cost to ship and if I should include the cost in the asking price or have the buyer pay shipping. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I personally say about 120$ plus shipping. The controller is worth almost as much as the tablet at this point, if they are both in really good condition you could try charging a little bit more but it might be harder to find a bite before your date. most people are selling the K1 for 150$ alone in my area and generally what i see online and its a solid bit faster overall then the original shield. tablets lose their value quick and it sucks hard. hope this helps a bit though.

Thanks. I am pretty sure that the Shield Tablet and K1 have the same specs. The only difference I am aware of is the K1 lacks the Pen and does not come with the charger or cable. I could be wrong however.

I thought the original had the Tegra 3 and the K1 has the new K1 chip but i cant find anything on the first shield tab thanks to the K1 -.- horrible naming.but the K1 is actually the name of the chip aswell as the tablet.

Yea the original is the same K1 chip. 192 core Kepler GPU, 2GB ram etc. Personally I would think the original is more desirable as it has the Pen (and slot to store it), but I guess there is a reason they didn't include it with the K1. If people are getting (as opposed to just asking) $150 for the K1 without accessories I'd think I should be able to get at least that much for mine with the accessories if not a bit more.

I figured it out, god i hate their naming skews, i was thinking of the damn Tegra Note 7 that came out in 2013 as i bought one, in my mind thats the first nvidia shield tab thing, knew something was off when i couldnt find the damned thing. ok, so the K1 is just ancient at this point lol, god i need to keep up with tablets more. ok, with this new found knowledge and me feeling partially stupid i say about 220$ plus shipping assuming all parts are in great condition. god, nvidia needs to do better with their naming schemes and not drop devices like bad eggs. xD

Agreed the naming scheme was pretty bad. Its actually still a pretty capable tablet. Granted there arent any real exciting tablets released in the last year or 2 though. The Pixel C is probably the most powerful currently but its price is prohibitive. I just find between my desktop and my Surface Pro 3 I dont use the Shield Tablet much if ever. Its in like new condition. Id be surprised if ive used it more than 50 hours total since buying it, and it has stayed in my home the entire time. Tbh i likely shouldnt have gotten it but I had gadget fever lol.
