AMD FX-8350 over 4.4Ghz shuts down cores?

Need some advice, I am trying to overclock my fx8350. I so far I have only tried to reach 4.8ghz stable and I can. However, when I go over 4.4ghz only the first 2 cores will be at 4.5(or whatever I am overclocking too.) the other 7 will be at 1.4ghz. I am using a gigabyte 970a-ds3p. I know its not a great mobo but it was free and I plan on upgrading soon as I can. I am just mind boggled why at 4.4ghz all 8 cores are running at the same speed, but soon as I hit 4.5 or higher only the first two cores are at that speed, and the rest are lowered all the way to 1.4ghz.. I have all the power saving settings disabled, I am only using the ratio multiplier and vcore voltage at this point. When I go from 4.4 to 4.5 I have changed nothing besides the multiplier. I stress tested the cpu at 4.4 I get 8700ish on cpu-z. When I go to 4.5 and above I get 2000 - 2500.. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening or some advice on how to fix it?

I can overclock to take screen shots of what I mean but here is an example

At 4.4Ghz

Soon as I hit 4.5Ghz (Only changing the multiplier setting..)

Stress test says all cores are working and at 100% load

it is throttling, what are the temps at?
is my best guess, i have had similar things happen somewhere in the 60'sC range. Does so to avoid damage to the vrms or cpu im pretty sure.

try a fan on the vrm? maybe take the side off and put a box fan high settings next to it to see if that helps. I have done that for a few benchmarks.

and ur second pic... lol

i am on a 120mm rad, and to go from 4.4 to 4.6 my push/pull fans need to be on max settings or it will throttle in the stress test. what cooler are you using? the vrms on mine are not the issue, the cpu cooling is. could be reverse of that or both for you depending.

I have no idea what I did, but I went to over clock it back up to show a screen shot of the cores, I set it to 4.7ghz and seen the memory profile set to disabled, which was at 6.0 so I enabled it leading to 8.0 and now all cores are running at 4722mhz. That wouldn't have been the issue would it?

Sounds like you may have found the issue. I have had a similar problem with my a10-7870k apu and a gigabyte motherboard. The Stilt said it was a Gigabyte bios bug. I could wake up the cores by manually setting them and adjusting the voltage in AMD Overdrive, but I had to do that each time I wanted full overclock. I never got it to stop until one day I found a post on Tom's Hardware and a fix of turning back on "cool'n'quiet". I hope your fix is the end of it.

If I touch and overdrive no matter what or how small of a change my screen goes black I can move the mouse but it has to be restarted. I can only use it for thermal margin

I am amazed that you even manage to arrive to 4.4 with that motherboard, which is only 4+1 phase. Let alone go higher.

4+1 is plenty for 4.4Ghz but there is no guarantee the board won't explode at some point.

I'm saying it's possible to hit 4.4Ghz, but not a smart idea as things will explode and burn.
