[WCCF] AMD Lists The Radeon RX 490 Flagship

All of these things indicate to us that we are looking at a dual GPU solution, probably one based on a full version of Polaris 10. The only other alternative was that the C99 variant is Vega 10 but there are some gaping holes in that theory that in my opinion put it at negligible probability: 1) Vega 10 by recent reports is too early in the development stage to have made it out to the FOC testing phase. In fact, if I were to offer some proof: the C99 board passed RRA certification on 8th April 2016 which was way before AMD celebrated the Vega 10 GPU development milestone! 2) The nomenclature indicates to a Polaris card.

If the 490 is a dual card, then Nvidia wins this round, by a mile. Then again, it's WCCF, so take it with a grain of salt.

God I hope this isn't true. I was hoping to get an AMD card this round.

Damn I hope wccf lives up to it's reputation. Please don't come true!

Just a reminder that DX11 Crossfire is old and busted. DX12 Multi-Adapter is the new hotness, and Microsoft is making it better.

You cannot judge the future on the past.

A dual GPU card would be great for gaming and perfect for VR. I sure wouldnt mind if this rumor is accurate.

wccf theory is pretty shaky. Firstly, the first digit doesn't necessairly have to denote the generation of the chip.

Secondly, C98xx is Baffin/Polaris 11 and says so right in the zauba pic they posted. So it's not 480/470.

Thirdly, the second digit holds for the chip used, C88xx was for the Fiji based cards. So quite unlikely that it's a dual gpu card.

It would be smart to push a dual P10 card, as long as the price is right. If it comes this early, that type of card could end up being the hugely popular for this generation. Widespread adoption would create demand for much more multi-GPU support from developers and also from driver teams. We also have Microsoft working hard to make multiple GPU support easier and better.

This is a great time for a lower mid-range dual GPU if it's aimed at real price:performance competition. The last few generations, they've only been a late in the game premium option for Micro ATX builds. Sending one down the pipeline at this point in time, with a small die.. that sounds like it's intended to compete.

A premium cooler and a bit more power might be possible if a dual card can be priced equally to Crossfired single cards. The niche pricing of these could get curbed by high volume sales to the point where a premium cooler and better power phase would be a freebie for those grabbing a "490".

Who knows. This makes far more sense than the "big polaris" people have been speculating about.

If this is true, Vega could possibly be the RX 5xx cards right?

That, or Vega could be the new Fury cards.
