First loop questions

Thread Starter
Hey guys!

I'm going to be doing my first loop at the end of summer. I have an Asus Formula viii and In Win 805 case and want to run the loop through my motherboard. Looking around it looks like it might be hard to run all of that inside the In Win 805 because you can't run a double rad setup. My question is should I try and find another case to run my loop in or can I make the In Win 805 work? The other cases I've been considering are Thermaltake P5, Phanteks Evolv, and the cube Lian Li cases. Any advice on water cooling is appreciated!

The first question is what are the components you want to water cool and do you have a budget in mind?

In Win 805 case, Asus Formula viii motherboard, and a EVGA GTX 1070 FTW GPU. I want to do a motherboard, processor, and GPU loop. Am I missing anything?

The In Win 805 is a great looking case, but it's not that water cooling freindly, your not going to get more than 1 radiator in the front and maybe 1 small one in the back which severaly limits the water cooling capability. The P5 is a cool case but pretty much cookie cutter, 1 480 rad, run the tube, and your done. The Evolv is a really nice case and has a lot more water cooling flexibility. I'm not too sure about the Lian Li cube cases except I know they're expensive.

We still don't know what your CPU is but it sounds like you need at least 120x4 worth of radiator space. I would suggest starting with a kit and then adding the GPU block, a second radiator, and the extra fittings needed. It will really depend on the case you finally decide on.

Hopefully others can chime in with their suggestions as well.

I'm running an i7 6700k.

My biggest problem with the Evolv is the fact that everyone seems to have it. I normally like to be a little different, at least with a custom loop my computer should be unique regardless of what case I ultimately decide on. I also like the new CaseLabs Bullet case but that might be limited in space as well.

Could go an In Win 303, looks cool but has a larger focus on watercooling. From memory EK offers a Monoblock for your board, which would cool the VRM and the CPU with the same block.
EDIT: Nope they don't, but your board has a built in VRM block anyway so you just need the CPU block.

I would go with the 803. At $90 it will give you a little more budget room.

In terms of other components IMO:
Rads: HWL (GTS or GTX) or EK (XE, PE), CPU block: EK, Heatkiller (IV Pro), GPU block: EK, fans: Noiseblocker or Phanteks or Noctua or EK.

I totally get that, it's neat to have something that a lot of other people don't. Did you have any sort of budget for the case? Maybe the Lian Li cube is the best bet for you, I really like the PC-08, it's just a little rich for my blood.

The 303 is really nice also, but can only get 1 radiator as well.
