Quick Sync while gaming on iGPU

With recent AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards having dedicated video encoding hardware people can record while gaming with minimal FPS loss.

But I know that Intel Quick Sync uses the HD Graphics, but does it have its own encoding hardware, or will gaming on the iGPU while recording and encoding using Quick Sync significantly drop the frame rate?

(I do recall trying to record/encode a game on a GTX460 which does not have NVENC, using CUDA, and it dropped the framerate significantly, I assume because the GPU had to deal with encoding video and rendering 3D graphics at the same time)
