Recommend me a budget 17 inch laptop for light gaming

Can you guys help me out?

I'm looking for a laptop for a relative that does some basic gaming - World of Warcraft, FB games, sometimes some Hearthstone / Diablo.

This person is NOT a hardcore gamer, and primarily wants something to take on the road for gaming sessions during vacations away from home.

Would prefer the following: Intel CPU (i5/i7), dedicated GPU (Nvidia, but can be older GPU, doesn't have to be 9xm range) and 17inch 1920x1080.

Brand is not a big deal, low cost is more important to this person.

I've been looking at the Lenovo Z series and Asus ROGs, but I'm almost positive this person cares more about screen size and cost than anything else as long as they can play World of Warcraft and FB games without noticeable lag.

Any suggestions?

Again:

Intel CPU
Dedicated GPU (prefers Nvidia)
17 inch screen

Cost savings > FPS to this person

Thanks!

Without a set budget it is a bit harder, best thing i can recommend from looking through newegg is the MSI GL72 6QD-001, its 819 USD right now with super solid specs across the board, I5 6300HQ, 8gb of ram, 1tb hdd, and a nvidia gtx 950m with 2gb of ddr3 vram. it should easily play WoW though i cant say on full ultra but easily playable framerates around high settings, i owned a 570m laptop and it was almost capable of full ultra but it was in the mid 30's so there is a chance the 950 would be able to do ultra flawlessly i just dont know personally but high is locked 60fps easy. If he is willing to spend a little bit more i'd recommend the MSI GL72 6QF-405, basically the beefed up version of the pervious laptop, it has a I7 6700HQ, 8gb of ram, 1tb hdd, and a nvidia gtx 960m with 2gb of ddr5 vram for 959 USD. Its a solid rise in price but the cpu performance and gpu power heavily increase and it would accomplish everything he would really want in a laptop with no compromises as a whole, really the 17 inch screen size is limiting in finding cheaper options but i think those are solid for what they are, hope this helps a bit. biggrin.gif

I bought my Dell i7559 15" laptop, 6300 skylake, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, with no HDD you have to buy one and 4GB 960m.

It's a cool laptop it just I have overheating issues, other than that it plays BF4 and other beautiful games on ultra. You just have to get an external cooler and it you like me traveling from country to country then an external cooler is not the best option.

You have to set the fans at high, so temperatures stay at safe level.

I got a used one from Amazon for $732. And it's like new with original charger.

I'd grab a better GPU, ...always, but a 970m is probably enough to run most PS4/XB1 ports for this generation. So an extra $100-$200 now keeps you from making this topic again until 2019/2020 most likely.

Those are refurbished though, and 99% of the time in my experience people do not want to deal with anything used or refurbished, most people like the safety persay of new merchandise. personally i dont mind it but i know most people i have helped find products dont want anything used or refurbished. depends on OP's person he is assisting though.
