Samsung 850 Pro SSD setup help needed

Hello I have a hot swap desktop computer with a

ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH Z170 S LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel 6700k cpu

For the first time I'm trying to setup and install windows 7 on a SSD drive.

Step 1.

Put SSD in placed Samsung SSD Install Nav and turned computer on the only thing it did was enter my bios and stop. I thought I had to setup ssd first before I install windows. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

you're good. just make sure ssd is in your slot 0 or whatever sata port you're needing to use. make sure dvd drive is in slot 1 ( after ssd) make sure bios has the cd drive as your boot drive in your priority list at the top so you can boot from cd, and press any key as prompts, viola should work fine, if not ? that's the next step lol

ssd is the same as a normal hdd drive, no special fixing required, just pop it in and go

My computer shop setup my first Samsung 850 Pro on this machine with windows 10. Shouldn't I just be able to swap out that SSD and setup a new SSD without changing bios or do you have too?

I changed to boot seq 1. DVD 2. SSD

My Boot menu

P2 DVD
P1 WD Storage
P3 WD Storage
P4 WD Storage
P6 SSD

well, technically no, I don't know what was done prior to. That's just the process normally you have to follow to start from scratch smile.gif

Yeah remove current primary drive, add new ssd into that slot,

I mean you can click F10 or F12 whatever your boot menu is once DVD is in your drive:

Boot from drive, run 7 , create partition on ssd slot 0, run and wait a good 15 minutes or so for it to load up, then follow the prompts as " use express settings" and time date, user name, all that jazz, and it'll take you to windows screen, run windows updates till they're all complete and viola

If that helps. If you have issues in any of that process let me know

In regards to this:

That's fine, just put your media in your DVD drive and let it run from there. Just be sure locate the proper partition lol

I guess I don't get why when I put new SSD in machine won't go past bios to even try setup. I guess the shop will have to do it for me. My boot seq went back to what it was before I switched order and saved it.

Did you go into your boot menu as well and run your media through your drive? does it come up in a black screen stating, no MBR found or No media device detected? What is the error that comes up on the screen

It just goes black and I see my HD lights come on 1 at a time and stay on. I hit space bar and I'm in bios screen. I never get past it.
