Dream Machines DM1 PRO S Giveaway - Matte or Glossy with PMW3360 Sensor - Page 20

it would be nice if the software was install-free.
and control over firmware: no forced upgrades, and allow downgrading.

oh, and disabling LEDs

Click delay is a nice suggestion, as well as the install free. I just got my first gaming mouse and I already don't like having the software installed. Download it, run it, setup everything and then never deal with it again, that's how it should be. For those who like acceleration, being able to configure the accel properties is a nice touch as well

Being able to set your own profiles for the CPI toggle, in which you could set CPI values in all possible natives steps, change the LED color for each or disable it and to raise/lower the LoD manually (not like automatic surface tuning). 2 profiles in total should also be possible.

The software should be a programm you start once, change stuff which is then saved by the onboard-memory and can be forgotten afterwards. (Mionix Castor software like as people already mentioned)

TL;DR: change CPI, change/disable LED, fine tune the LoD with a castor like software

Why?

Because of the functionality this sensor gives.
If the sensor offers it, it should be possible to tweak the stuff to have your own Dream mouse!

I would suggest something basic along the line of:

- Button assignment
- Adjustable scroll speed
- Adjustable polling rate
- Adjustable DPI (including set of 3 or 5 individual DPI levels)
- Adjustable lift off distance
- Adjustable button response (aka click delay)
- LED control (to switch them on or off, optional color change options)
- Firmware upgrade options
- No installation requirement

Should apply and save your settings instantly. Not go make coffee, have a ciggy, come back and tell you that you need more documents, etc. etc. and then save your settings. (e.g. Roccat)

Cross platform software (linux & osx) would be awesome. Right now I keep an old windows installation solely for mouse drivers and that's nonsense.

software that would make it possible to record a macro while in game.
change dpi independently for vertical and horizontal movement.
software with integrated fps counter, a lot of us run those at the same time.
voice activated macros..... sweet Jesus how great would that be...
software integrated with a button on the mouse that would make it pause the game and launch some sort of osd mode controlled with that buttoin instead of alt-tabbing into windows. sort of like bmw idrive button on the mouse
software that'd call in sick for you when it's a big game release day and you gotta go to work

Software that doesn't need to be installed, adjust dpi/hz/lod/LEDs and that's about it

Simple and to the point

Here our final question: What is the most anticipated software feature you would like to see on our products and why?

Rules:

- one entry per person;
- users with 50+ posts can participate;
- winners of the two previous rounds cannot win in this round;
- deadline is 72 hours from the moment this post is published;

Good luck!
  • Portable = no installation needed, download, unpack, run, done
  • Firmware update & restore because we all know that sometimes firmware could use a little tweaking and updating to a fixed newer version
  • LOD adjustment
  • When mouse has colors then be able to set all of the color areas to steady color and off without any detrimental effect on mouse performance
  • Redefine sensitivity settings and save them into the mouse along with amount of smoothing used although that might be hardware hardcoded frown.gif
  • Change button debounce delay, again save into the mouse itself
  • And lastly, open source firmware as sometimes no matter the effort from manufacturer the firmware doesn't do what it should (such as the endless Gigabyte XM300 FW issues in all firmware updates) and enthusiasts may be able to change the firmware to fix issues or mod it to their liking especially when not all parameters are available in mouse software to be changed

Otherwise raw, no acceleration, macros or other useless gimmicks. Mouse is a mouse not a xmas tree like some manufacturers think.

Prefer if the software can store the settings within the mouse, to make it possible to for instance take it with you and simply plug and play.

As for adjustments I would say as many as possible or as little as possible.

DPI or CPI is a must

Programmable buttons for macros is almost a must

LOD is already set to low and I don't see any critical reason as to why this should be changeable.

More adjustments/settings are grounds for bugs and glitches that can become super annoying.

(I'm super happy to see a mouse with an omron scroll click, this is the main selling point for me aslong as it has macros as I use this as my sniping button and most mice break within a week or two for me. This feature is something I have already told friends about)
