Nah, the AMD trolls need to stop being so damned salty. If you get a win, show some damned poise and win with dignity. Though I use win loosely since I personally couldn't care less about fps and benchmarks since my end is good.

A strong showing by AMD means we all win. There is no "us" and "them", only competing products in a duopoly.

Said hypothetical person(s) can be very well informed but still being unable to afford a "well informed purchase". And lets assume even if it could afford, that hypothetical person might instead spend 1/4 or 1/5th "consuming" a console and the other 3/4'ers or 4/5'ths on not only this doom game but dozens more titles with an end result of much higher return in entertainment for $/€ spent. That seems like something a very well informed consumer would/could do.

Then sometime later at the end of the fiscal year some report/study comes out again of how PC gaming is declining and all impending doom... solution? Maybe GPU prices should double again at the mid and high end segment, it should help reverse things right? After all It's just about being "well informed" and having online social "validations".

This post proves my point. The "green" vs "red". Who is winning? The consumer. Not team red nor team green as some have made this site to be about.

Benchmarks/performance have nothing to do with whether or not a game is popular/beaten etc., one of the most de facto benches that gets thrown around is TW3... hasn't anyone beaten that yet? How about BF3 that has been posted all over the place recently? rolleyes.gif

Also has nothing to do with a "win" or "loss".. It's just giving us an idea of how games that support the new API's will perform. According to SteamSpy, Doom has sold nearly 900k copies and has had nearly 400k unique players in the last two weeks.. It's also a great game from what I've been hearing.

Strange how within a few pages of the same thread we can go from "DX11 titles matter more because backlog", to "game doesn't count because beaten already". Sounds like a group of consumers are trying to use whatever angle they can to lessen the importance of how games are going to be made going forward.

If PC ever catches up to consoles and we start seeing 30% of engines being done in compute asynchronousy, then this place is really going to get fun. tongue.gif

just played some doom. 7970's going strong, not sure if its utilizing both of them but im getting around 100 fps everything cranked to the max 1920x1200. seriously the most bang for the buck in terms of computer hardware ever. thumb.gif

Ha, good point. Fan man was supposed to be about the ridiculous amount of fans I typically have in my cases and the fact I don't really watercool. The AMD logo was actually intended for expressing disappointment at AMD over the recent years.

Think I'm going to have to change these up tongue.gif

Definitely not. No multi-GPU yet in Doom Vulkan.

Which means you're pulling 100 FPS at 1920x1200 on that 2012 GPU. thumb.gif
