There seem to be plans for a second revision of the Polaris chips. Those should launch next year when GF works out the process issues. Still AMD has an uphill task with Vega and Zen in trying to get close to their competition in perf/watt.

As far as i can tell that perf/watt has been figured for DX11. It would be interesting to refactor it with a modern API.

IS there any benchmark/video Fury X vs GTX 1080 apples to apples on Doom Vulkan?

I'd say it's pretty bendable. It's got braided mesh around it, which makes it more robust.

I can say this with experience because I fit mine into an Ncase M1 with a regular ATX PSU biggrin.gif

Both can. Maxwell via driver, pascal via hardware.
AOTS for example runs async on nvidia, and the pascal gains have been very very good.

So please, don't make stuff up.

The fact is that ID intentionally disabled async on nvidia since when they developed it, they did so without pascal in mind. They also stated that they are working with nvidia to enable it. So laughing and making stuff up now, is irrelevant really.

Last I heard, async is still disabled on 1080/1070 in Ashes. Do you have a link proving otherwise?

You are the one making stuff up here, maxwell and pascal both can't run gfx+compute at same time. but pascal has preemption so it doesn't take performance hit as maxwell do. so please educate your self and stop spreading fud. or show a game running off/on async on nvidia and gaining performance from it.

Can we expect this kind of jump with Nvidia in an upcoming driver?

Be honest please. I and many others would love to see this gap stay but if it's unlikely, I'd like to know.

Science this sucker out for me OCN 😃

If they are going to enable async compute on pascal, than we should see an increase in performance for nvidia new cards with new driver update and the game update.

I understand your intent but this sounds absurd. If you don't have a parallel engine to run both compute+graphics in parallel in hardware, then it's called software preemption. And that's not parallel. It's cleverly scheduled by the driver to minimize latency, which provides the benefits of async compute, but it's not parallel and doesn't run compute+graphics at the exact same time.

Pedantic, since async compute then competes with AMD's implementation thanks to Nvidia's faster overall architecture, but it's not compute+graphics in parallel.

But maybe not so pedantic, if Nvidia doesn't come through with a Doom or Total War update soon.

You call a 2.8% gain "very very good"?

And if I really wanted to cherry pick:

This is just embarrassing (Click to show)
