I feel that. In exactly the same boat.

I'm actually thinking about putting my two R9 290s w/waterblocks back in just to see.

Anyone want a MSI GTX 980Ti 6G Gaming? biggrin.gif

This is far from the only game that can do this, and as far as I am concerned, 4GiB is quite dead at the high-end.

Even 6GB is dead at the high end right now. 8GB is the very minimum.

I can agree to that. I hit the 4gb limit on GTA V as is with a mix of settings at 4k. Aside from the general dual gpu issues, this is the main reason I never bothered grabbing another 290x even though I've been at 4k for just shy of two years now. Next card is going to be at least 8gb.

Can't wait to see what 8gb+ of hmb2 will do.

Digital Foundry review is up for this as well..

Frame times are certainly improved quite a bit too

Don't be too salty, every little bit helps. If Vulkan isn't seen as a net win for over half the discrete gamers out there, then it won't gain traction for another generation of GPUs.

he had better fps to begin with on OpenGL, thus the lower boost (besides lack of async shaders), since there wasnt an overhead for Vulkan to improve upon

so theres that too

that can be verified from the video above in that Fury X now beats stock 980Ti by up to 11-12% (or less in one of their runs) despite having had gains of 40%+ overall from Vulkan

I was teasing him due to how excited he seemed.

I'm pretty happy tbh. I get constant 144fps at 1440p with opengl with minor dips here and there. with vulkan I barely see dips just solid 144fps 99% of the time. feels like I'm playing cs:go it runs so smooth

edit:
and video says it's 6% - 19% boost depends on the scene. that's a good boost if you ask me

yeah DX12 and Vulkan may not do much for Nvidia in terms of raw fps for reasons stated (maybe ~5-10% gains at times compared to Nvidias DX11/OpenGL, sometimes 0-1%)

but what it does do well is improve minimal fps

saw the same story in RotR, min fps went up in benches in DX12 more so than the avg score did
