I would love that, just to see the look on everyone's face. biggrin.giftongue.gif

I'll be first in line for the à la carte crow buffet.

But until then, I'll continue in my belief that nVidia lied repeatedly about Maxwell's (lack of) async compute ability.

I keep hearing this.. but looking at all the latest video benchmarks posted of AotS.. and there are ZERO differences in the graphics between AMD and Nvidia.

Ironically, the only vid that I can recall seeing a clear difference was in that one AMD posted. rolleyes.gif

Not going down this rabbit hole again.. It's been discussed all over the place more than enough times already.

Nah, we'll just call then a day late and a penny short. Nvidia need to get their heads out of their rear. They're letting all of their fans down by not being on top

I don't think they are letting any of the fans down. Like when the 970 issue was brought up with vram. They all rewarded Nvidia by selling and buying a 980gtx. The fans are dead set on the branding alone, they will never consider an alternative. The only way they would consider it is if AMD dominated Nvidia in performance and that is a BIG maybe. You see it all the time here on OCN. People say they want AMD to compete so they will get cheaper Nvidia cards or faster cards from nvidia quicker. So i think Nvidia would have to constantly mess up for a long time before they loose the fans.

I know because i used to be a hardcore nvidia fan, and i would only consider them at the time. Prices were my main motivator. I also didnt like things like SLI mainboards that costed more just because of SLI. Then someone makes a patch and proves SLI was easily circumvented because it was software not hardware. Things like locking out physx when it used to be open market with an addon card. I could go on but Nvidia just really pushed me away with price in the end.

I didn't read any reviews really so....Any info on what is in the 480 cards as far as other abilities? Like DSR, they do 4k? Video streaming can they do 1080p/60fps using VCE? Has AMD done anything with these and VCE to actually make VCE better for streaming/game recording since it is completely terrible right now? Terrible on OBS and X-Split, and not even available on Gameshow since those devs said it is too hard to implement. This is just another area where Nvidias solution works, AMD introduces their version, and then completely wrecks it through neglect.

Anyway, happy with Doom and vulkan gained about 40 fps, so AMD is doing something good there.

the 4k results i saw in FSU didn't impress me. Of course now we have Timespy and i don't think anyone has done 4k yet. Don't know about 4k vsr, or the other stuff but i don't see them not allowing 4k vsr.

The 32 ROP's put the 480 a bit out of its element at 4k, I think. Some Time Spy 390 vs 480 4k results would be handy to see some of the specifics.
