Doom demo now has a Vulkan patch just landed, if anyone wants to try without buying the full game. My 980 TI went from 165fps to 161fps at 2560x1080 Ultra. Yay...

Less fps? Is this a new patch or the one that has been out for a bit?

I almost bought a 980ti but backed out after thinking and looking over dx12 /vulkan performance. I did still want one for benching but ill just wait.

I don't think that there's been a patch since the Vulkan one.
If you have a Nvidia card I'd recommend that you keep OpenGL on instead of Vulkan since Maxwell lacks the Async capabilities of AMD cards.

How exactly are you measuring this? Unless there's a benchmark in the demo I'm not quite sure how you compared the FPS.

pretty weird how 1080 has gains from Vulkan, but 1060 & 1070 dont

Most of the gains are in CPU-limited scenarios.

It means the 1080 is CPU limited under OpenGL and the 1070 & 1060 are not. Nothing weird about it. Bump the res to 4K and I bet no gains will be seen.

I also lose frames on my GTX 860m, though my laptop can barely run the game anyway frown.gif 1366x768 on low just to hit 60fps.

Save game where you get consistent frame rates.
