Motor oil will have serious repercussions, its way more viscous so it will cause the pump to move much more slowly and it will also have much more resistance throughout the loop. Flow rate will be dramatically lower, causing temperatures to increase a lot.

On top of that, motor oil doesn't even have half the specific heat water does. in other words, it carries heat much more poorly. Once again, resulting in higher temperatures.

Motor oil isn't intended for low temperature cooling systems with weak pumps. Its meant for powerful hot systems.

I meant no reprecussions as in "no corrosive effects". I am well aware of the fact that it is indeed viscous, and that it can not accumulate heat quite as fast as water does. Considering the fact that even the hottest cards/cpus rarely go over 100W, and that can basically be cooled with about anything, even tomato juice, if you really wanted. A 60W motor oil is not that viscous, too.

The question is, is it really worth it? I have not seen anybody try that before.

No,the added stress on the pump coupled with the poor thermal performance makes it unsuitable, especially with the limited cooling capacity I have here.

How is it help in place B Neg? Clamping force against the case?

Yup,there is a rebate on the thick part the depth of the panel, the outer panel clamps it in place.

Ace, I never used to be good at working out how things worked until I had a major motorcycle accident and smashed my head into my own motorbike clock stay lol, good to know I've still got it. biggrin.gif

I really like the assembly, fitting the pump the way you did. Looks cool! ( And functional)
