Price of GTX 1070/1080 - Page 2

Shops are not fully stocked yet, so prices have mostly not corrected yet.

Everyone states to wait until prices fall, problem is supply/demand. As long as the 1070s remain somewhat difficult to keep in stock prices will remain at $450ish. It is disheartening to see the actual manufacturer MSRP $379 and then after shipping/taxes AIBs are much much closer to $479 as opposed to $379. Waiting is getting old. Always told to wait.

Don't think price will go significantly lower in next half year tbh... unless there is some game-changer from amd.

Really? I thought it was just one to two months before stocks will be stable? Isn't this how it was in the past with previous generations?

It's been a few months already and nothing is happening to the prices. They are nowhere near the MSRP's. Will their prices still have a chance to recover?

Prices have stabilized, as well as the stocks. The 1080 is still a little hard to find, but the 1070 is available in abundance.

Newegg - GTX 1070
Newegg - GTX 1080

As far as the elusive $379 and $599 priced cards respectively, those will probably continue to be difficult to find. They are going to be very cheap, blower style cards with plastic shrouds and loud fans. If you want anything that is higher quality, you're looking at $30-50 more at least, and that's not going to change.

MSRP is exactly what it says it is...a suggested price. I too got caught up in the "suggested prices" of the non founder cards but

379 and 599 were never going to happen with the founders coming out at 80 to 100 dollars more.

If the 379 and 599 cards ever come its going to be the most basic non OCed featureless reference cards cards you can find.

The prices are what the prices are right now..I wouldn't expect them the change

Just pay the extra 40 or 50 bucks and be done with it. I mean how long are you willing to wait to save 50 bucks?

Pretty much what this guy said.

I initially bought a 1070 Sea Hawk X since I'm fortunate to live close to a Micro Center that doesn't gouge. However I really wanted that 1080 and ended returning the 1070 and setup alerts for that nowinstock site for 1080's.

A bunch of places got shipments last weekend, but they sell out in an average of 6 minutes (depending on which brand and version you want) based on my data and to re-sellers no doubt. Noticed Amazon had some stock at MSRP last Friday and there were no re-sellers. 6 minutes later the reasonably priced 1080's were sold out, re-sellers were now in abundance selling for $250 more to be fulfilled by Amazon with estimated ship dates being a week or two from purchase (you know because they just bought the legit Amazon stock and didn't actually have the item yet.)

TL:DR - Early adopter tax and supply/demand are real things.
