Ongoing Pascal latency problems - Hotfix doesn't work for everyone. - Page 13

Another update from a 290 user. I've noticed that there is a difference in latency between Latency Monitor and DPC Latency Checker. The latter gives me a solid 1000 line whereas the former reports 33 (browsers, AV and AIDA running) so I will put it down to Latency Checker simply being incompatible with Win 8.1.

Edit removed the hard pagefault report as that has no effect on this latency.

Why wasnt it a problem for basicly all but a few then and is it a problem for everyone now ?

It's been an issue for some of us for years, when we speak up about it 98% of the forum just doesn't know what we're talking about.

In my experience this problem affects a lot of people but it only causes significant symptoms for a fraction of those; of that fraction, only a fraction of that knows that the issues are DPC-related.

Well, I couldn't manage to reproduce the audio crackle I got before from watching a video and while running the DPC Latency Checker I had some spikes into the 800's and low 900's here and there but it was all within the green range and the vast majority of it was 20's/30's/40's.

For what its worth the time I heard audio crackling watching that video was before I had overclocked the 1080 so I don't know if that made a difference.

This looks like one of those complete non-issues that fanboys from both sides always jump all over when revealed IMO. Several people in this thread have reported latency on their setups according to the software yet have suffered no issues at all firsthand. If Pascal really does have any serious issues (all of which we have gone over to death) I guarantee this is NOT one of them...

Serious or not it is an issue that needs to be fixed, I have always heard about Nvidia drivers being the best so hopefully this is fixed before next week.

Well as I said it's not a problem for me but it is for lots of others, and nvidia has reproduced the problem so I don't know why some people want to argue and say it isn't a problem.

You expect A formula 1 car to beat every super/hypercar on race track. so nothing wrong in wanting for a fix here. hope they will fix it.

anyway, this dpc issue is mostly a placebo effect regarding with input lag same as with pre render frame option in nvcp. i learned hard way that pre render option lower than 2 actually hurts your performance when you use any nv gpu higher than 670 and never let's your gpu usage go to its max most of the time.

or maybe FastSync if you are using it

No idea about FastSync. What is that?

I played a few rounds tonight....the highest I saw the current measured interrupt was about 108. I've been running SLI for a while with no stuttering. I had a bit again tonight. The only one of the items in the monitor that is REALLY high is the pagefault.

Oh I'm not suggesting that it shouldn't be fixed or that its not an actual problem. Just not anything to get excited about. The 970's memory config was a design decision that they tried to hide from people so the outcry about that was warranted. This issue will be fixed within a week with a simple driver update...

That's actually fairly bad. It should ideally be staying at 20-100 or so (especially at idle), but that might not be bad enough to cause any noticable symptoms for you depending on the system.

Well, it's an issue that is many years old. Another one that i'm reminded of is the power issue with screens at high refresh rates.. that was brought to public attention a while back when 165hz screens were loading a gtx980 to like 150w at idle, they said that'd be fixed in a week and it's still not completely dealt with
