Ongoing Pascal latency problems - Hotfix doesn't work for everyone. - Page 22

I don't do audio work, mainly just standard gamer video recording. Driver giving 300us causes occasional issues for me with those type of recordings and 1000+ causes substantial stuttering during gameplay.

I can play games w/ about 20us sometimes and people with AMD cards can as well, so why should we suffer from 200-500us or worse caused by GPU driver?

I just switch from 390 and there was no dpc latency problem there...... before i had 770..... now i remember why i switched to amd.... becaue i had the same thing on 770 and it was never fixed, i totaly forgot about this and now i have the same thing all over again mad.gif
If nvidia will not fix this like they said with the next driver i will be in proper rage mode.......

are you running with no power states and is the power options in High performance if so

Try test again but with power states on and balance power settings in power options re run

However there are those of us (myself included) that use our PC's for a little bit of everything, including audio recording.

DPC latency is a HUGE deal for any one doing recording or real-time monitoring of tracks loaded with VST's in a DAW (Sonar, Reaper, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, etc). In fact a lot of people that are serious about building a system specifically for DAW use will build the entire system around attaining the lowest DPC possible. If one motherboard is reported to be stable and have 20us lower DPC on avg compared to another motherboard, you can bet the lower DPC board will make it into the that rig.

Basically if I had this DPC issue right now with one of these Nvidia cards, had no other backup card to replace it with, and was working on some recordings at the moment, I'd be absolutely livid! This would absolutely cause issues during recording and playback in a DAW environment.

However, Nvidia was quick to respond and agreed there is an issue which will be resolved. So points to them on that thumb.gif

cheers.gif

Agree

I build DAW systems for clients this is why for me its a concern as most like to have a DAW and gaming rig combined

ran into this issue a while back now with the 1080 in question as soon as i place any other 9 series in no issue even tried a amd 480 again no issue

So i do hope it will be fixed in the driver

I never use NV cards in DAW's for my clients.
Any NV driver always have more latency then any AMD driver.

Biggest culprit are still the Intel network drivers though.
Hyperthreading and HPET can bring alot of latency to frown.gif

Edit
I still think something else might be causing problems, i mean latency issue's on NV drivers have been here for years.
They get stutters and FPS drops and related that to latency, but that same latency didnt bother people before the 1070 and 1080 came out.

I think the latency issue is still there as it has always been (all NV cards) and the 1070 and 1080 are having another issue next to latency.

Yes Agree Farih if its only used as a DAW only system then yes i tend to use AMD / Intel as i seem to get the best results with them

but I have had good results with nvidia cards too my rule is as long as its under 100us then i am happy ...of course the lower the better but i have to be very careful of what parts i choose starting with the right main board helps of course ... I have a safe go to list that i use ...

but like i said more and more clients want to combine there rigs now gaming photo video audio and why not they should be able too

spent many of hours even days on all this to get the choice of components & systems right... but it is kind of fun / challenge sourcing what works well or not

The old CPU core un parking trick works well too not just for DAW but for certain games where the cpu code is either badly optimized or very low usage hence would be parking time = lag stutters can be a big issue on vsync again due to low usage on the cpu .....

Disable CPU Core Parking Utility

http://www.coderbag.com/programming-c/disable-cpu-core-parking-utility

recently built rig here with an nvid 980ti latest driver with 2 sound devices fully installed with programs on the net work with intel NIC with HT enabled 4 core 4 T with power states on and power on balanced... of course when user go's in DAW mode he will go high performance with a click of a button but this is an example of a one of my built multi use DAW pc's

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

To those affected, SLI makes it worst?

from my experience it rly depends on the system. i own multiple gpus from the last 10 months and i always had the same DPC latency around 50.
this sounds more like some kind of conflict or everybody had the same issue.

My friend has MSI gaming X 1070 and he reported idle average 150us and peak 1000us with latency mon. While youtubing it was 490us. He also has GTX 680 with 3 monitor setup at work and that gave him at average 1200-1500us idling at desktop.
