Ongoing Pascal latency problems - Hotfix doesn't work for everyone. - Page 27

Has anyone tried going to Nvidia Control Panel then under Adjust Image Settings with preview tick on --- Use my preference emphasizing: PERFORMANCE

This cut my latency spikes to about a third. Also use latencymon instead of dpc latency checker, it's more accurate.

I didn't bother to read through the entire thread so apologies if this has been mentioned and tried. biggrin.gif

There are other steps to reduce / eliminate latency (at least for win 7)

https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/solved-dropouts-cracks-pops-on-windows-7-and-nvidia-gfx-card.126080/

To disable the PowerMizer, here's what you have to do:

(You may want to back up your registry first)

1.Open up Regedit and go to

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\********\0000\
The *'s will be random numbers. There will be a few of them, pick the "0000" folder with the most keys in it.

2.Create the 4 Powermizer keys (these will all be DWORD):

PerfLevelSrc
PowerMizerEnable
PowermizerLevel
PowermizerLevelAC

3.Change the values (double click on them) to:

PerfLevelSrc 3322
PowerMizerEnable 0
PowermizerLevel 1
PowermizerLevelAC 1

4.Reboot and Powermizer will be disabled!

This reduced latency to 0.2-0.3 ms!

Thanks for the info

But done this all ready in fact i have been trying everything tbh ... its just these 10 series cards as soon as i place any other card in other than 10's its fine

If there is no fix for the next driver release I will be selling this card for a loss just to get rid of it and get back to AMD.

The reason I decided for a 1070 was relative consumption to performance, when I saw the RX 480 power consumption, and realize it consumed just as much as a 1070 but with around 66% less performance I lost faith on AMD doing anything decent.

Now I see this type of performance over Vulkan and DX12, I feel like a fool.

I even sacrificed FreeSync for a 1070 just because I though it was the superior card because of its incredible efficiency, hopefully VEGA turns my 1070 into just a passing card, these DPC issues with Nvidia really got me disappointed., Pascal gotta be the buggiest Nvidia launch in history, 5 different issues happening at the same time and the noise is being kept to a minimum, if this happened to AMD the internet would be up roaring at full strenght

@Dargonplay - Given how short 1080/1070 supply still is, you might be able to sell it without that big of a loss at all.

I'm going to give it until the next driver update, not a second after that.

Graphics card isn't the culprit there.

can anyone tell me what is this hard pagefault count ? seems excessive despite my latency seems perfecty fine....

Any time a program requests something that can't be found in memory, there is a page fault. Unless the system is completely idle, or everything is run off a RAMdrive, you will eventually see significant page faults when something requests data that must be loaded from a drive.

The ISR and DPC execution times are important as well, as they will reveal misbehaving drivers.

you might as well just sell it now to get better value back while you can if you're convinced its the drivers/card

Where did you buy the card? You should still be in your return window for a defective card.

Speaking of your 1070, why did you sell your 980 Ti and replace it with that?

given he's experiencing issues that not all of these cards have, how does that play out for resale value ?

Unless he bought it from Newegg that has a ridiculous "No Refund" policy. Though he'll probably get lucky and get a refund since stock is so tight, and if they can't find you a replacement within the day they send you a refund.
