As marked absolute reading

Can't say I've ever checked and don't have Nvidia but got me curious.

Apparently my pc is not suitable for real-time audio and video streaming.

Never noticed an issue or hiccup but have 500us DPC and current measured spikes above 4000us often.

NV users are experiencing stuttering conditions in some games, audio, applications tasks with that kind of DPC?

It's been interesting reading this thread for sure. I can't see why so many are heated when it's a small issue in long run that will be handled with drivers. Drivers have gotten pretty complex over the years as hardware has grown, I'm not as into it as I once was but driver size alone for today's gpu's show us that I feel.

Does XtremeG drivers still get rolled out, are there other tweaked drivers NV users could try? Didn't see too much mentioning of that.

Still Nvidia driver shows as the highest DPC, it's not bad absolute value but it still shows.

But I don´t get any popup window when I type xperf %userprofile%\Desktop\trace.etl. When I open trace.etl myself then I can´t get the DPC CPU Usage window. My whole program looks different than in that instruction.

Actually it looks like this and as I runned heaven benchmark, I had 2 big stutters as it was running the F9 Benchmark.

@harney

Where can I find Palit Bios updates?
Awful. Dunno I've never seen Palit updates. It should be the same card as Gainward.

Use Latency Mon to see wich drivers cause most latency.
Try different drivers for the ones that give a big latency.

Disable HPET.
Disable Hyperthreading
Disable C-States
In Windows power option set minimum processor state higher so you dont throttle to under 2000mhz (have mine thottle to 3200mhz even)
In NV control panel set Power mode to maximum performance.
Dont use DSR.

Things like this lower latency a bit but they wont make these spikes from the NV driver go away though.

Most VGA bios can be found here:

HPET, no thanks
HT, no way!
C-States, good joke
Win power plan, as if
...
I mean come on, setting the whole PC to run locked at maximum CPU and GPU clock all the time is not going to solve the cause of the issue. It's just a wanna be hack around by brute force.

I'm curious as to how much this would affect VR, since it's so dependent on low latency.

I didnt say they solve these spikes you have now on NV 10xx series cards
I qoute myself "Things like this lowers latency a bit but they wont make these spikes from the NV driver go away though."

A CPU at 2000mhz isnt max for 98% of the people here on OCN.
Setting GPU to "prefer maximum performance" doesnt mean it runs at max clocks all the time, it still lowers clock when idle.

You dont have to use the settings i talked about, just saying that those settings will reduce latency a bit.. nothing more nothing less.
What people do with it is up to them wink.gif

And you should use the other app to check DPC.

HPET is a performance and latency hog if you're not running a bank of servers that need to have their timings synchronized.

TSC is another timer system ingrained in Windows and our BIOSes, it is in fact x100 times faster than HPET in certain scenarios (when multiple interrupts are being handled at the same time in chaos), it is a more "real time timer" that benefits the user but it would be catastrophic for servers (which is where HPET is king)

HPET should have no business in gaming PCs, because the only way to force your entire system to use the more efficient TSC is to disable HPET entirely.

HPET also affects the mouse movement feel. I'm not entirely sure why this happen but if I was to guess I'd say it is because of the "balanced" or "fixed" ratio of interrupts instead of the chaotic nature of TSC, HPET is the Vsync of system timers basically.

I experience zero issues with gaming. I do hear occasional "pop" sounds with my speaker when I'm playing music on spotify. that's pretty much it but still annoying
