but since this 1080 went into my own rig that's when all the issues started

Some games i get really bad frame drops then seems to stable out as with the 980 ti it would stay locked no drops kind of like the 1080 is being underutilized gpu boost 3 to blame i bet

looks like another problem about to rise new thread GPU 3 boost hot fix

i hope not

So should I go for the 1070 or 980 Ti now? I did a test, and with the 980 Ti at 1500MHz , it beats a 2100MHz 1070 in most games. Should I just got for a 980 Ti and avoid all these issues?

Well

What is the prices difference for you between the two

Do you plan to use VR

Is power saving important to you

If not and you do go 980 ti with bios mod make sure you have a good case with good fans

Are you going to be interested in another gpu say when the 1080 ti arrives or vega

Are you buying new or used if you decide 980ti

personally i would go 980ti if you can get cheaper i would recommend a g1 or xtreme both solid cards and u can use the a bios mod all the g1's and xtremes i have had have done really well with bios mod ...most are fine on stock bios but i have had a few crap g1's but once you bios mod and give em more juice 1550 above easy

$630 CAD for both Asus Strix or MSI Gaming X 1070, and $630 CAD for G1 Gaming 980 Ti. I don't want to upgrade for like 2-3 years at 1440p maxed out. Will overclock both as far as they will each go.

So same price mm that is a tricky one then i would go 1070 then

the 1070 is a great card in term of power wattage performance one of the best last time i looked

I would only go 2nd hand 980 ti g1 or xtreme and go mod bios this would make the 980 ti worth it then in terms of price over the 1070 ...most used cards should still have plenty of warranty too

No VR for a long time, don't care anout power. Still 1070 then? If so, Strix or MSI Gaming X?

If same Price, get a 1070. I'd say Gaming X,heard Asus RMA is pretty bad.

The 980 ti is only worth it 2nd hand or new if you can get much cheaper than 1070

Go by the reviews re 1070 i would say MSI for me they feel and look the better card TBH ...then there is who as the best US rma support just in case you need

i think over time the 1070 will pull the lead also in games as it matures

or

nvidia start gimping the 9 series

tin foil hat removed

This hotfix fixed the latency issue, but games and benchmarks would start at a crawl for a second, then FPS would jump to normal.
