why?

I know their mobo bios is crap.. But at least hardware wise they are strong.. Good Pcb Good Component Good soldering.. Etc
A product such as theirs is comprised of both hardware and software. As such, it's only as good as its weakest link.

I don't think it's a 'launch' day as such, just an estimated shipping date. No info on clocks yet and yes, the Nitro+ as well.

ETA on these are even later. Late August. Atleast for the brands I work with.

I would see if the "delay" is a decision made to prevent many returns on the reference design in favor of the AIB?

Think about this, if AIB cards were available now while we're still in the 30 day return window, surly people would just send theirs back.

I noticed a couple of e-tailers state a replacement only policy for the likely reason being what you stated. I don't quite understand why people pick up reference cards for two weeks then try return them or sell them at a loss when aib cards aren' too far off.

People are impatient, and stupid.

The amount of time I've spent waiting for the 480, then being a bit disappointing by it, then waiting for some AIB's.... Starting to think I'll just wait for vega

IMO it's a great card for $199. Even if someone didn't unlock their 4gb card and left it alone.

Beyond that, pricing it at $250+ it's going to get beat by the 970, 980 eventually and 1060 regards to price to performance.

Not to mention it's own 390 and 390x pricing surly to fall. Plus if you're savvy or confident enough just buy used.

AMD, if this card came out instead of the 390 series rebranding, that could have shook your competitor up a bit.

i thought the 480 was all around better than the 970 and in dx12 and vulkan titles the 480 comes close to the 980?

DX12 and Vulkan are nothing more than freakshow benchmarks right now.
