The RX480 is at 269€ at the very best (reference model), being the norm 289€. The only way to AMD get some sales is getting the customs at 250€ and the 4GB ones at 220€, period. The 8GB Nitro has to be 250€, there's no other option. It can be more expensive models, of course, but always keeping the price difference with the same models of the 1060 variant.

I keep my faith for the RX 470...

I can only find reference GTX 1060 at 279, AIB go all the way to 349 in mindfactory.

i want to show this as all DX12 games with reference RX480 + new drivers and patches

only game missing is apex forza 6 which is unfortunatelly not tested anywhere but i expect that AMD will also win in that game as 390X devastated both 970 and 980 before

also 480 nitro should be about 15% faster than stock

You'd need to play at least 25h a week and leave your computer on 24/7, at which point you'd save just over 10€ per year with a GTX 1060 (at current rates where I live).

seems like theres barely a notable difference in all those DX12 benches except for Hitman and Vulkan

there is also 10fps difference in minimums in tomb raider which is not a small increase
in fact if you make percentages from that results reference RX480 is about 10% faster in DX12 than GTX1060

nonreference RX480 will be another 10-15% faster than reference RX480 so that will shuffle cards alot

Over time, and especially now when new APIs are releasing which NV cards struggle with, the 1060 will fall further and further down the performance charts compared to their competition. That performance loss is worth far more than any tiny amount on the power bill. I've said it before, but NV cards are a terrible investment at this point in time. Prior generations are falling off the cliff with last gen APIs nevermind the new ones. The 1060 looks quite weak against the RX 480, after market 480s are obviously going to be even better.
I'm not counting in speculations of performance projections in upcoming applications.
I don't shill for any side, but I get crap from both instead lol darn internet, criticize NV they are upset, criticize AMD they are upset, no win-win.

NV has a strong PC market hold and more importantly a strong PC developers hold.
AMD has a strong console market hold and also it's developers.
I don't know if AMD is smart enough to force Sony at least to use Vulkan on PS but I suppose M$ won't backdown from DX12 on consoles. All in all such titles should be AMD optimized and possibly easier to port to PC, which I don't like but it happens a lot to games I don't play.
The 1070/80 is going to last a few years for sure. 1060 not so much but then the 480 doesn't have a big advantage over 1060 either. Maybe 485 will remove some of the Polaris drawbacks if they decide to create one.

So far custom 1060 is locally priced lower than reference 480s and distributors do not even want to offer 4GB version of 480s to retailers.

And to make things worse for 480, the 1060 is faster in 2016 games, and if someone is buying a GPU to play in 2017, then wait for 2017 and buy a GPU then not now smile.gif
Both cards are really good, unfortunately both overpriced and not always easily available. I don't think the prices are going to go down anytime soon for new GPUs, so far they keep the same or barely any better performance/price ratio as previous generation. Disappointing and it moves all new GPUs one tier higher in price than they should be.

25h a week is damn easy. 16h a day turned on, no problem. Yes your calculation is similar to my finding.

All the DX12 / Vulkan games we are talking about like Ashes of The singulaity, Hitman, Quantum Break, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Total war Warhammer, Doom are 2016 games. Most of the DX11 games are older games from 2013-2015. So I don't know what you mean by saying 1060 is faster in 2016 games. tongue.gif
