https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.computerbase.de%2F2016-07%2Fsapphire-radeon-rx-480-nitro-oc-test%2F3%2F%23abschnitt_benchmarks_in_full_hd

Only 1355MHz OC for the 8GB but up to 1415MHz for the 4GB. wheee.gif

I don't think Vega will run @higher clocks than 480. It will be about the same.

About the performance, 1080 is 1.75x faster than a throttling 480, so we can't compare, based on that, that easily. Vega won't throttle (at least I hope it won't). But still, I expect it to match 1080 in DX11 @1440p and higher, and beat it handily in DX12/Vulkan

1355 Mhz OC for the 8GB Nitro+ ? thats .. 13 Mhz increase over factory clock of 1342 Oo

lowest OC ever ?

granted 1342 is already not bad for a factory OC for Polaris

well they're not doomed, but they arent, in fact, competing in anything higher than $250 right now

Given that's where the money is, what's wrong with that? Sure it doesn't mean high end enthusiast cards for people to drool over for their 8k, 266hz, 44" monitors, but the $250 and below segment is where the money is, and the more of that AMD can get, the more money they can invest in other places, including the cards to power those monitors and games.

You guys forget that Polaris 10 only consumes 110W, the rest is board logic, double that and assuming linear increase in power usage you get 72CU/64ROP at 220W, add 20-40W for HBM2(yes it's THAT much cooler) and you're at 240-260W.

Yeah seems weird if you look at the 4GB Nitro with it's 1306MHz factory OC and then you see the manual OC up to 1415MHz

Same here, they got the 4GB Nitro also up to 1400+MHz
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3098825/components-graphics/sapphire-nitro-rx-480-review-polaris-rethought-and-refined.html?page=9

Seems like you'll need some luck or the 4GB is just better for OC tongue.gif

theres a ton of money in the upper segments as well .. the cheaper ones have volume and how much money they make there depends on how much it costs them to make the 480

and Nvidia is doing both

AMD customers dont have any high-end options until 2017

4GB overclocking better must mean it's power limited, that should make no difference otherwise? Did they turn up the power limit?

Meh, I'll wait for forum members to get their hands on them. thumb.gif

Damn, 40dB load in "quiet mode" and high watt usage..

Still wrong. Mafia 3 is DX11. Just to name one huge AAA title. It's mostly terrible Windows 10 Store exclusives that will get DX12, just to promote it and make people change to Windows 10. It brings nothing new to the table. Just like Gears of War DX12..

Games - people are playing - and will continue to play for a loong time, are DX11. AMD needs to fix their overhead and stop hoping DX12 / Vulkan will solve their problems over time. It will take years. Does AMD GPU owners have to suffer this long? A friend of mine with a 290X bought Fallout 4 on release, it ran terrible. Then he bought Doom, it ran terrible. It took weeks and months before these games ran good. This is AMDs big problem. They lack good performance on launch in the majority of games. Both games ran like a dream on Nvidia. Pretty much all games run good on Nvidia on release.
