Funny, that wasn't there when I preordered earlier. I feel I'm taking a bit of a risk before reviews, but I figure I can always cancel/return if I'm dissatisfied with what the reviews say.

I get most of my info from the forums so.. Broken telephone? redface.gif

After some more searching it looks like Vega is now more or less confirmed to be on Global foundries, if AMD haven't stepped up big time then they're in trouble, at least in perf-per-watt..

The Hardware zone article references wccf article, and wccf says so with no source whatsoever, just an assumed using that node because AMD always used TSMC before that. Since a year ago when that was made we had confirmation that AMD was going with GF for GPUs as well. The new thing where people are suddenly talking about Vega on TSMC only came about in the last couple months, pretty much since Nvidia launched their GPUs. I think it is just people being wishful that AMD would switch cause they think TSMC 16nm is better, and then other taking what they said and now saying it is fact.

Funny, that wasn't there when I pre-ordered earlier this morning, must have been a lot of people doing the same. I feel I'm taking a risk before seeing reviews, but I figure I can always cancel/return if I'm not satisfied.

Nothing to do with wishful thinking on my part, and no it hasn't only been in the last couple months.. This was being discussed nearly a year ago on these forums. I literally did a 1 minute google search after you stated there were no articles mentioning TSMC and Vega, i didn't go out of my way to find/prove sources or anything. You're welcome to do the leg work yourself if you feel it's that important. thumb.gif

Those articles are also from over 8 months ago, so i don't know where you're pulling 2 months from.. As i said from the beginning, as far as i was aware that was the situation, those were the rumors and what i remembered from it.

I refuse to buy a card that throttles though... I was hoping the sapphire would be it, but I guess I still need to wait.

I am shocked by how terribly poor cooling and noise levels this 480 Nitro offers. I just got Sapphire Fury Nitro and cooler is freaking amazing, keeping card at 71C (fixed 35% fan speed - 1280 RPM) while maintaining noise levels of good quality case fan set to 5V or ~500 RPM, and this is a 275W beast. Meanwhile, their RX 480, 175W card, needs some crazy 2200 RPM to keep itself at around 75C. What is going on here? It just lowered reference temperatures by ~10C while keeping the same horrible noise levels...

I want to see what MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus has to offer. I was hoping to grab a 4GB AIB 480 for around $200 later down the road.

2 fans vs 3 fans + smaller heat sink makes the RX 480 fans spin harder to keep temperatures in check.

I want a Vapor-X or a Toxic... Otherwise I'll be skipping this.
