[Guru3D]Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro - Page 8

The reference board used on RX 470 / 480 is pretty well built in terms of the VRM, except for the input power distribution of course. Some of the custom cards have significantly weaker VRM than the reference card does, MSI Gaming X for example. MSI RX 480 Gaming X is using 4-phase GPU VRM instead of the 6-phase used on reference cards. Also instead of using separate high & low-side mosfets, MSI uses OnSemi PowerPhase dual mosfet packages which have significantly higher power density and are much harder to cool.

I agree.

All i wanted to says is my thinking.

Sapphire is not high end.

They make motherboard. But never launched worldwide.

Asus Msi Gigabyte and Evga are to my eye the leader.

Do not prevent other from making good product.

Sapphire is far from Evga.

Crappy warantly lenght too. It now what 2 years. When i got the 7950 it was 1 years...

My friend who older told me when he was young he burn three sapphire in a row playing wow.

And i myself killed one with a fan failure. ( The gpu was never used for gaming how can the fan fail) it was not even 5 year old.

My 7950 dual-x fan was stuck a month ago. Needed to push 70% for a week to get it unstuck.

And it rattle at some rpm.

I would go and get the cheapest of any brand up there and never have those issue.

Still with the new fan design sapphire may improve. They got a new webaite too.

Still waiting to see 3 years warantly

I'm hearing that it's being released today and then I'm hearing next week on the 21st.

I'm surprised no leaks have come for a definite release.
On Sapphire twitch they've hinted day after tomorrow which was about yesterday/today that the 480 Nitro would launch. But other than that even on r/AMD they don't freakin' know and guesses just blur out stuff like 7/27, aka wait forever. It's already 2 weeks after reference launch, they need to get those custom cards to shops this week, period. People are tired of waiting.

If the reference cooler was such tragedy as all blower coolers are, I would have already snagged the reference card especially if one can find the 4GB relabeled model but those didn't make it to Europe at all and prices overall are hiked up. Shops still need to ditch their stock of old crap.

I have to admit all my previous sapphire went out damaged without overclocks (except 6850 but it was overdrive overclock). x1950xt died, 4850 died, 6850 was on the way of dying, gotta check on a machine to call it. However all of them gave up after warranty.

Everyone seems to be eye'in the Nitro, so i expect it to sellout on the first shipment. Either way, i look forward to seeing some legit numbers on the card.

I love Sapphire. I've had several since getting Xfire 7970's. Great brand.

Agreed. I would have grabbed reference already if it had DVI because I have a Crossover with no DP connection and I don't want to get an adapter.

I have had 2 Sapphire cards (7990 and 7970 Vapor-X) - Both were great. I think they are the largest AMD card AIB supplier. Not positive though.

They are definitely the largest AIB for AMD. Poor customer support thou, especially in asia.

I'm suprised that people are suprised that the sapphire dual x wasn't a top notch card.

The dual x was one of the cheapest, the rest of sapphires lineup has been far from the cheapest. Powercolor is usually the cheapest and I believe they are the number 2 AMD aib in terms of sales.

The only company I've heard any good about customer service/warranty is evga. But imo, you shouldn't hold it against a company if you get a bad product from them. It happens. It's frustrating, I know, but given enough time and purchases, eventually you would run out of companies to buy from. These aren't simple products, a lot can go wrong on pc components.

You would never hear about how good evga customer support and warranty is if their cards never had problems

This is true, but it's not about receiving a defective product. It's how the replacement/return process is handled that matters. How quick the turnaround is for a defective item. How responsive the CS department is to your issue.

I do think it goes Dual X < Nitro < Vapor-X < Toxic, so I agree with you here.

I could be wrong.
