See, the 980Ti is still a beast! I'd get one of them for $375 a hundred times over before I'd spend twice that for a 1080. It's significantly faster but not all that...

lol using 2nd hand card price and comparing it to the most expensive new $750 1080s.
I'm tired of coming to ocn and hearing "980Ti is still not that much slower than 1080 if you compare a custom one vs reference 1080" in every second post. Of course it isn't. You don't have to repeat it to yourselves every day for reassurance.
were it not for the cost of the trade I'd never do it. You assuming that everyone paid +$700 for 1080 and had to sell their 980Ti for $300 in a hurry is just stupid and naive.

power draw
oc/stock

how can rx480 with 14nm shrink and new energy efficient architecture draw more power than 380 and 280X ?

They just overvolted their samples to hell and back? Everything from the 970 all the way to the Furies consumes way above target in that table. Or simply their method is faulty, which is very plausible too.

or..OR...if you see everything consume way more then it might be that this is system draw not gpu draw tongue.gif

It seems like a combination of both. It's like silicon lottery. You might get one with or without it.

It took weeks and months before these games ran good. This is AMDs big problem. They lack good performance on launch in the majority of games. Both games ran like a dream on Nvidia. Pretty much all games run good on Nvidia on release.

My 6950 has played pretty much anything properly at launch - including releases this year.

I only recall sloppy gameplay on Fallout 4, resolved by disabling godrays and a patch.

Can't really speak for GCN cards as I own none, but I can't see why GCN would run worse than TeraScale when the latter was phased into legacy support last year.

$270 for custom RX480 is a joke.Only AMD diehard fans will buy that.Rest will get the custom 1060 for $250.1060 is on avg 15% faster. There is always the $199 4gb RX480 that is certainly good value but every other model is too much.
