Nah, 5%-10% on avg seems more accurate. And that's only cause the 480 reference is throttling as f*ck so the difference with customs should be even smaller.

1060=100
480=91,5 (avg)

so rougly 9% slower.
problem is AIB 480s don't give it much boost

and don't oc very well

so we're looking at oc'd AIB 480 matching a stock,reference 1060.

AIB 1060 is +3% to that

and another +15% gained from oc

all with 50-60W lower power draw oc'd vs oc'd

TPU says they couldn't push the momory on 480 strix further due to driver limitations (probably the whole pci-e mess). frankly, both 1060 and 480 gain much more from memory oc than core oc. problem is, 480 max out at 8800MHz while 1060 can push well past 9GHz, lowest I've seen was 9.3GHz, higest was 9.6GHz
seems like the pci-e power draw fuss is succesfully letting 1060 win stock vs stock and extend the lead further oc vs oc even though the core oc is pretty much maxed out on custom 1060s

yeah it looks like OC vs OC - a 21XX Mhz 1060 vs 1350 Mhz 480 either keeps the same gap as ref 1060 vs ref 480 (~8-9%) or even widens it a little in the 1060 favor .. and 480 @ 1400 are rarer than 1350+ ones and in 1 case a review said they barely gained any performance at all from getting to 1400

I still don't get why people have a cow over testing Hitman, but are completely ok with testing Rise of the Tomb Raider, despite it obviously being nVidia biased.

Wouldn't concern about that much. I'll pick the one with lower fps but without dpc latency issue.

nah both are fine

in my mind they more or less "cancel each other out", one being AMD game, the other Nvidia game

that leaves Doom Vulkan as the huge win for 480, as well as having some ~up to 5% wins in a few XB1 ports like QB or GeoW remake

then you have ~parity in games like Ashes, WH DX12

and all of DX11 going to 1060 (exception being BlOps3 and maybe 1 or 2 other DX11 games)

as far as Doom Vulkan is concerned - whats weird about 1060 result is that it performs on ~970 level instead of being close to/at stock 980 level where it should be .. no real reason for that

I think we need to wait a little tbh.

There seems to be a bug in WattMan where it crashes after trying overclocks after a certain point whereas GPU Tweak doesn't and you can get to 1400Mhz on that. It depends on what software these sites are using to OC their 480s - I would assume WattMan. If so, I would like to see more results using other software that isn't apparently bugged..

this "we need to wait" we hear all the time makes me nauseous.
let's hope tsmc and hmb2 make vega 10 a slam dunk cause that GV104 that's coming in 2017 is gonna cost a grand

Lol I don't know why you are so aggressively against this card.

Saying we need to wait is perfectly rational seeing as we only have 2 reviews of the Strix from major sites and none for the 8GB Nitro OC+.

Or should we all jump to conclusions like yourself?

to sum it up, "we need to wait" is a fact that barely anyone likes to hear at this point.

I believe we waited a lot more than "a little." We waited to the point where custom 1060s are out with stock on newegg that people can buy, and rx480 is still stuck at where it is right now.
