That system is a bit unbalanced in some areas with a lot overkill and overpriced parts so it can be done better

First thing you should replace is the CPU cooler as its not very good nor is it quiet, its a common misconception that CLC coolers are better then air coolers when in fact its the other way around

The Noctua NH-D15 or one of the other dual tower coolers would be a far better option is going to cost about the same and make far less noise

Next is the PSU which is way overkill unless there is going to be two high end video cards in the system and even then there are PSU´s that are just as good and much cheaper
Next is the video card and i am going to ask why the GTX 980 Ti when the GTX 1080 is out is way faster and cost about the same?

Next is RAM and again those RAM are way overpriced and you can get RAM just as good for far less money
Last when you say Samsung Pro SSD which Pro are you talking about? the 850? the 950?

There's like $250 between 980Ti and 1080. $400 vs $650.

Right Nvidia did lower the price on the GTX 980 Ti
But that still means a GTX 980 Ti cost about the same as a GTX 1070 which is still faster and draws a hell of a lot less power

Yeah, i tried to convince him that the corsair hcoolers weren't that great, but he likes the look i guess. He won't be doing any crazy overclocking so I wasn't too worried about his cooling choice.

Next is the PSU which is way overkill unless there is going to be two high end video cards in the system and even then there are PSU´s that are just as good and much cheaper
Next is the video card and i am going to ask why the GTX 980 Ti when the GTX 1080 is out is way faster and cost about the same?

he found a good deal on the psu at the time which was roughly the same price as a 650w psu, so he pulled the trigger.

Next is RAM and again those RAM are way overpriced and you can get RAM just as good for far less money
Last when you say Samsung Pro SSD which Pro are you talking about? the 850? the 950?

sorry, he has the 850...i hear the pro is a really big upgrade, is this true?

If he already has those components then don't worry about it, he'll be fine. There's nothing wrong with corsairs CLC coolers in my opinion.

CLC coolers are overrated overhyped overpriced loud and unreliable
If he wants one of those all in one liquid kits get one of the open ones from EK or Swiftech instead of one of those crappy closed loops

Does not matter if its Corsair / Cooler Master / Antec / Fractal Design / NZXT or any other company if its a closed loop its almost allways utter crap.

My "utter crap" H80 has seen extensive duty with four different PC setups, cooling a 2600K, 3960X, and 4930K with absolutely no issues whatsoever since early 2012. It is NOT noisy at all (where this absurd claim came from I can't imagine) and in fact I can't hear any noise from it at all except the obvious fan noise when I crank them to max. At "Low" setting it cools my 2600K with a 4.7GHz OC just fine with temps never going over 75C in anything normal (not IBT or something obviously) so I still fail to understand the fervent hatred some seem to have for these CLC coolers other than the price of them? Form factor is undeniably better than one of those ridiculous Noctua's, that's for sure...
