Stepping A0 usually, if not aways, means engineering sample.

It means that its a first revision Zen chip, and there hasnt been any re-spins or major revisions of the circuit design. These are almost always Engineering samples, with anything beyond that being either another respin of the silicon, or a production stepping.

That being said, those clocks are rather low arent they? I mean, yeah they're ES chips, but even so thats kinda low for maximum clocks all things considered. Hopefully the release chips will be clocked higher or have some good overclocking capability.

Is Summit Ridge aka full FX consumer chip still expected for q4? Is there difference between Zen and Zen+? Consumer and server chips or Zen refresh?

Hoping to snap up a Zen to replace my 4770k if that 5960x level holds true.

I was thinking the same.
The poster considers those clocks as "exciting" though, even when he's guessing a retail X8 @2.8Ghz base.

No, it was posted by "AMD Polaris" which could be anybody:

That was the first post on that account.

A0 design right now is a bit of bad news. Doesnt seem likely AMD will hit the Q4 2016 release date when they are A0 still. Either that, or Zen was designed near flawless and it doesn't need any revisions. lol.

probably the latter, but its likely a different approach.
something like they didn't mark them until they made an acceptable prototype, then labelled that as A0.

Or the 3rd option is that this guy has some old information who thought it was new. Remember what Lisa Su said at Computex 2016:
